Question about Automaton/kinght errent/etc (adds weapon damage to abilities)

SquattingTurtle
Automaton: Adds 400 Weapon Damage to your Physical Damage abilities.

Knight errant: Adds 200 Weapon Damage to your One Handed and Shield abilities. When you use a One Hand and Shield ability, you heal for 1250 Health.

There are more but what does this mean? If i hit a 10k wrecking blow with automaton on will it do 10,400 damage? or does it raise my weapon damae in my character stats for a moment when i use it?

I'm trying to find if the sets are worth it. I love 2Hand but it seems to be kind of "meh" compared to other skills. Especially the Ult...

The wording means that during damage calculations this flat amount will be added to your existing weapon damage number.

The attack it self should do far more than an added 200 damage. Im gonna guess somewhere around 1k depending on the move? I could go math it out, but, nah.

It adds it to your Weapon Damage for those abilities. It will result in more than just 400 damage.

The problem is it does nothing for your class abilities or your Vigor heals.

I don't think I would take it over say Hundings which gives a flat 300 WD to everything. Just my opinion.

Important thing to note is that any non flat weapon dmg (one hand a shield weapon dmg, or physical ability dmg, etc.) basically anything that doesn't JUST say weapon dmg is not affected by buffs like Major Brutality.

Automaton is an alternative to something like hundings with "similar" results. It's 400 WD can't be buffed. If you figure the 300 WD from hunding's and account for Major brutality, Dawn Breaker bonus, fighter's guild passive, etc they end up pretty close. You can get 400 from automaton without all those buffs but it won't help vigor, etc or you can deal with the buffs/passives and get around 400 from hunding's and it affects more of your skills. Also automaton having jewelry is a tradeoff to allow "comparable" stats while mixing with other sets. I don't think they are really much better or worse but they give a little more flexibility as the tradeoff for being implemented the way they are.

First off thanks for the explanation, but are you basically saying that you can use it to free up space on your bars? Like using a different ult than Dawnbreaker and not using rally?

I depend on bitting jabs unfortunately so i probably won't end up using it.
