Has every player turned into a toxic jerk? (rant)

When I'm bored, I often queue up in random dungeons just to help other people. I don't need the loot, I don't need the XP (I'm 800+ CP) If I get into a group with all sub-100 CP players I'll work with them, explain mechanics and try to help them out. If they need it, sometimes I'll even craft them some armor to help them out and discuss builds. I enjoy doing that, and I've made a lot of friends. I've helped people complete everything from Fungal Grotto and to Vet Maelstrom Arena.

I love doing that. And there's a lot of players out there who do that, too. But some people also have limited time, and don't have time to spend an hour on a dungeon because maybe they've only got 30 minutes to play. In an elite group they can knock out any dungeon in that time, but in a random group that 30 minute Cradle of Shadows run could be an hour and a half, so they don't have time to waste for that.

There are great players out there, there are rushed players, and some players who are just butts. Find the good ones, add them to your friends and maybe see if they've got an awesome guild to join. =3

So I'm a humble female player here in the PS4 NA server, DC if that matters. 460CP, if that even matters. Plus subscriber. Lately, I've had a huge gripe with what seems like literally every player I run into happens to be an elitist douchy jerk.

I'm wondering if this is something perhaps console exclusive, or if this is also a problem on pc (idk, because my 10-year old laptop sucks). It's gotten so bad, I have to be cautious about even the guilds I'm in - which btw, I do not recommend joining the [Snip] - if they want to be a bunch of other-alliance hating, sexist elitists, they can do so without me (they quite literally all ganged up on me via text chat when I pointed out one of the members being an item scammer, shouting sexist insults at me and all. Sad times when even your own guild turns on you).

But I run into this alot. Even for being CP460, it's almost as if no one wants to group with you unless you're top-tier CP531+. Which is why I have to rely on guilds more, except I have to be careful even with those (so I guild-hop alot, it's sad).

I consider myself an understanding, mature adult (30yrs old if you care), and I help and assist other players if need be. I don't understand the increase in this douchy bsing attitude, and I feel like it's getting worse. Almost to the point where even the game is no longer enjoyable.

And no you can't have my stuff. (j/k)

[Edit to remove name and shame]

Well since One Tamriel launched I for one have had encounter after encounter with needy , ill prepared , demanding players that believe I play the game to help them in any and all ways they desire. These players want and actually expect others to explain in great detail the ins and outs of the game. Information that informed players acquire by spending their time reading the forums, using google to search all the wealth of knowledge on the web, or watching the great videos on ESO on YouTube.

These players expect others to group with them and spend their time getting them through quests and dungeons despite the fact they have done little or no work to prepare themselves. They keep demanding ZOS change the game to force others to play with them (read do the work while they get the rewards).

With all the players from all three Alliances dumped together and able to go anywhere in game you can not help but run into these types all day long. Sooner or later thy get on your nerves enough you get short and even rude when dealing with others. I know Im going to be called an elitist snob but I want to know when striving to be excellent and not excepting mediocrity became a bad thing?

I'm curious, where do you 'encounter' these players to say that 'you can not help but run into these types all day long'?
Are they running up to you and spamming you with their requests? Or are you referring to group content like pledges etc?
If it's the latter, then are you using group finder? Because like it or not, the nature of group finder is that it WILL give you inexperienced players from time to time. If you don't have the patience for this you should consider grouping with a guild that allows you only run with other players that meet your requirements.
However, if people are genuinely just coming up to you and spamming you with requests then I sympathise, its bizarre!

I do a lot of quests so I am all over, I have multiple toons and get approached in many different situations. I agree with you whole heatedly, when I use the group finder I expect to help other players and maybe not complete the endeavor. Thats ok by me and I have no problem and enjoy helping others...when I want to ...not when someone else expects me to do it and does not appreciate it.

Here's the thing (I'm PC NA, btw) Most are toxic jerks and the few that aren't are refered to as Care Bears by the previous. Most of the decent folks have learned to just keep to themselves or a known group most of the time because it gets old ignoring the toxic BS but this is also the internet so everyone is a tough guy.
There is nothing here of interest to any nations; as a matter of fact, there is nothing here but people.

In my experiences on PS4 NA, group finder is the best way to find cool people. elitists typically won't use the grouping tool since they don't want to be stuck with low level players roled as a healer and a tank or something. those people will form a PUG in area chat where they can pick and choose.

Also, you find some really chill people through the grouping tool. The kind of people that won't speak up in area chat because they know to just avoid the cesspool of a highly populated area/text chat.

I found three of my best friends through LFG and we have been having fun playing together for over a year now. The whole time, successfully avoiding and boycotting elitist scum and arrogant ***.

I am a male of 36 years and yes it does seem like much of the population is like that on PS4 NA (I'm AD btw). I have a good core group of people in and out of my guild that I run with. If interested send me a message on PSN.
PS4 NA AD GM formerly known as GM of "The Children of the Void"

9 trait crafter I do all the things (Yes I mean ALL the things ;0).

Sounds like a console issue has I haven't seen anything to that nature occur on PC

I agree, and AD is the best faction, more adults, I would also recomend the best AD guild, "DIG" Dominion Imperial Guard.

    NA PC.
