You'll no longer see a horde of people standing around certain locales, spamming skills and making lag and dueling. It'll be the opposite of how it is now.
What I wouldn't give for a max CP-capped, no dueling endgame area where you can meet up with others for the hard content. I haven't even seen most endgame players around. They might be there but it's hard to sort them from all the chaos, and presumably they're doing the same thing as I am, grinding Mages, Fighters and Undaunted dailies with the XP boost for alts which dovetails nicely with farming Skulls at the moment. I've gotten a few hundred and not one mask.
It's nice that level 16 characters can romp around the world but it'd also be nice to have a place like Stirk or Eyevea where the dedicated players have to hang out. I can easily foresee that this is going to be housing. I suspect that it'll make guilds work a lot better once there's a specific place for people to meet.
In Nightfighters the original GM, Paula the much-missed, had the guild hang out spot be way up on top of a long mast on a ship out in the sea. Insanely impractical but very much the sort of thing I would choose. I'd probably pick that weird huge nest hanging off the side of a cliff in Wrothgar.

✭✭✭I had a house by Babe and Paul the Monouga in Asheron's Call, titanic static NPC easter eggs. On that map there were lifeshrines (basically wayshrines) and for whatever reason there were none anywhere near the NW quadrant of the map, which was the same size as Rhode Island. It was huge. No one ever took the 45 minutes or so to run there, and there wasn't really any content there, so people would come over to hang out and look around all the time.0 -

MasterPerceval✭✭✭First of all, Housing will not stop people from wanting to meet up (which usually you do in public areas like squares) because that's the fun of this game: playing with others. I would get fed up quite quickly of sitting alone in my house looking at chairs I can't sit on or bookshelves I can't fill (I am so hoping that I am wrong here... ).
Second of all, those so called endgame players you can't find are everywhere. Go to any of the capitals (Stormhaven, Elden Root, Mournhold) and you'll have a hard time finding a player below level 50. Half or more of the population consists of 561+ players here.
Last, I don't understand what the fuss is about dueling. Sure, your fps can drop to like 30, but that's is very doable (coming from someone with an almost constant 15 fps). I think dueling makes cities lively again, which is something I really missed before one Tamriel.

Are all the house locations outside the cities? If there are good size properties to be had in cities then I think we will still see large gatherings of people there.
The biggest impact on that IMO will be having crafting tables in homes.

✭✭✭How this will affect guilds is that when you log in you can simply go to the designated spot. People who are there are clearly not off leveling alts and Trials and such can be more readily organized. I don't think you realize how much of a difference this will make. Notably I am not currently in a PvE guild but I've been off leveling skill lines on alts which, with so many characters available now, takes a not inconsiderable amount of time.0 -

Wild_Monk✭✭The basic problem - is not in play. 80 percent of young gamers - stupid animals. They behave in the game, like cattle. Hooliganism, rudeness, duel right in the center of the city.
Bearded men in pink underwear.
Game losers, climbs on the work bench in Forgery, and all others must to crawling at their feet.

But really, I would LOVE to be able to hire specific NPCs. It would be a good way to make some of our choices have consequences, too. EQ2 with it's guildhalls as a part of housing would like to have a word with you...
It will largely depend on how housing is implemented in ESO. If we can craft inside our houses, I expect a lot of people will use it rather than subject themselves to the hordes of skill spammers and duelists in the cities.1 -

I don't remember the quote exactly but a developer explicitly mentioned people getting together in one another's houses for just this kind of thing.
It'd be cool if some people dedicated their homes to certain game content. One person teaches HRC, another is a meet-up to discuss PvP tactics training, one is a theorycrafter and dueling-test salon, etc.0 -
