How Do You Fight Opponents Skilled in Stealth?

Never gave this much thought before because I've only encountered actual stealth fighting in Cyrodiil. It doesn't exist outside of Cyrodiil; players can see other players who are stealthing around.

But in dueling it becomes real, even in a place like Shornhelm.

I always accept duels. I lose half of them. Thus clearly I have no twisted issues with losing. Yet, when facing a very skilled opponent who relied on stealth late, late last night, I found the entire encounter unexpectedly disconcerting. Pardon the excess of information, but my heart was POUNDING by the end, and images of things leaping out of nowhere to hit me followed me into sleep. I was as helpless as a kitten during this encounter.

In short, I need some advice. What are good strategies and skills for fighting masters of cloaking devices?

Many thanks, in advance :)

Stealth, although powerful in some situations, is one of the easiest combat techniques to counter in ESO (even more so in a dueling scenario).

    1) Any AOE, Cone, or Ground effect ability.
    2) Specific anti-stealth abilities: Revealing Flare, Magelight, and Expert Hunter (Soul Assault?).
    3) Blocking negates any advantage a ganker gets from being in stealth.
    4) Detect Potions (my personal favorite).
4.5) Cloak is also notorious for being buggy. You might even luck out and break their stealth with something that isn't supposed to.

Gl, and +1 for accepting duels.

EDIT: for "strategy," like I said my favorite are detect pots. Take NB to 75% health or lower-- at this point, NB will try to stealth to break aggro/heal. Chug your potion and burst them the rest of the way dead by spamming gap closers to stay close. As long as you're close enough, the detect potion will keep them revealed.

You just swat them down as they appear like a whack a mole because stealth builds are terrible.

Detect pots or Mage light. Try lying down a trap beast sit on it until your opponent ambushes you and they will trap themselves in it, combo and rinse and repeat until they dye

Careful gapclose spamming tough. If it's a high damage nightblade you might very well eat a unblockable destrostaff ult which is centered on the caster.

Baited so many gapclose spamming people into chokes only to have destroult, vicious death and Sap wiping them ^^

Other than that, this guy gave you awsome tips.

    A colorful answer indeed! :p

I should try that class. As yet I've not made a build specifically for dueling though. I simply accept duels on whatever character I'm on at that time....in this case one I'm still building who's a tanky Imperial who now suddenly has Expert Hunter ;)

Pity her pocket mammoth can't reveal foes with that elephant trumpet sound he's so fond of uttering at the oddest times.

Defensive rune spell from sorcerers stun the next enemy that damages you. Lasts for about 2,5 minutes and if you have a dot on you (which you will against most nbs ) you can bring them out of cloak + stun them.
If you want me to reply to your comment type @Ankael07 in it.

As a Sorc, you can keep curse up on them and bring them outta stealth every 3 seconds. That's fun.

    Detect + Immovable pots.

They can't stealth or use Fear on your for 16 seconds. Go to town on them in that time.

Yeh, the strategy kind of depends on putting really high pressure while the NB commits to defense/escape. And you're right the counter for the NB would be to try and turn the tables on you. Thanks. :)
