Should lockpicking be changed?

It's one of those trivial little things but it's always been something I just can't wrap my head around. Why does the lockpicking screen open with your pick in the middle of all 5 tumblers instead of at the end closest to the lock? It's gotta be such an easy thing to change and it doesn't make sense as it is now so please consider this a change for the future.
