So at this point, the pro is almost here and im a little irritated on ZOSs silence regarding how they will take advantage of the systems hardware.
Here is a list of facts that we already know.
-The pro will run eso at a native 4k resolution
-ZOS has stated that we will "experience increased graphical fidelity" with a 1080 display
-4k displays will automatically run eso at 4k res.
-sony has stated loosely that multiplayer games will all be locked at the same fps(30 in this case)
here are the issues that i feel should be answered, as myself and many others i know are still in limbo with buying a pro for this game since there is an offensive lack of information being provided by zos at this point.
The pro will run eso at a native 4k resolution
We know its native, and gamespot has done a rough test and has determined that with similar specs to the pro, their custom pc ran the game at its highest graphical setting and sustained about 50fps on avg. which is great all things considered. Basically can we expect this test from gamespot to be true? Can we expect the pro to run eso on its highest graphical setting? Can i load up my pc version of the game, crank the prest to the highest setting, lock the game at 30 fps, enable controller support and experience the game as it will be on the pro? If the answer is no? what graphical quality increase can we expect? The 4k pro announcement trailer left a lot to be desired and frankly speaking, looked noticeably better then the current console versions but not by much.
ZOS has stated that we will "experience increased graphical fidelity" with a 1080 display
This is my first REAL problem, assuming of course that the game ends up not running at max settings on the pro. For those that opt to use a standard 1080p display, who have no interest in 4k atm, can they expect the absolute highest graphical fidelity that the game can offer? The hardware found in the pro can EASILY handle it at 1080p and likely even close to 60fps outside of cyrodil and main hubs. Can the pro toggle visual settings of the game based on the detected display / resolution that is connected and available? It would be a HUGE let down if zos denies that option simply due having to push for 4k.
4k displays will automatically run eso at 4k res
If i have a 4k display but i would rather play the game at 1080p with better visuals, do i even have that option? Will the pro or eso just force itself into 4k resolution based on the detected display connected?
sony has stated loosely that multiplayer games will all be locked at the same fps(30 in this case)
Can we get a formal statement that eso will in fact follow this criteria that sony has set for its multiplayer games? Do they not allow developer input on the matter? For first person shooter titles i can understand this, however i fail to see how an fps lock will do much negative for this game especially since pc players experience the game across a wide range of performance. Granted i suppose that is one of the strengths the console has, consistency for all players on the platform. Has ZOS made the case, or are they locking the game at 30 fps because they need to make sure 4k is running stable no matter what?.
I really think it would be show of consideration for their players that ZOS make an official statement on the matter. The pro is coming out soon and i may or may not purchase it depending on the details regarding the questions that i have just asked and i honestly feel many others feel the same way.
