Why can't the runeboxes be deposited in the player's bank?

I'm not talking about guild banks, I'm talking about a player's personal bank in the game. When I try to deposit runeboxes into my personal bank, I always get the following error: "You may not deposit that item in your bank."

The in-game description of the Runebox: Scarecrow/Pumpkin Spectre Mask states:

"Contains a Scarecrow/Pumpkin Spectre Mask. This container can be traded, mailed, and posted to Guild Banks and Guild Stores - however, once opened, the Runebox (and its contents) are bound to your account."

I just want to store them in my personal bank account to free up inventory on my characters. I have collected six so far. At this time, I don't wish to open them and have them bound, I just want to store them in my personal bank until I decide at a later time what to do with them.

By the way, since I could not deposit them in my personal bank, I tried to mail one to another character of mine and I got the error "You cannot send mail to yourself."

So I would like to understand why the runeboxes cannot be deposited into a player's personal bank.

    I was wondering this too
Not sure why, its like a collectible.. maybe its item code categorizes it as a collectible

Probably simply to make it inconvenient to save them indefinitely.

    I think it's obvious why.

They don't want you being able to hold more than 2400(12 characters x 200 inventory spots) of them. Imagine being able to hold another 240 in your bank...

But why? What exactly is the reasoning? I already have numerous items in my bank that I have been saving for an indefinite time. What makes the runeboxes a special or different case?

With respect, that makes no sense to me. I can imagine being able to hold another 2400 of (insert whatever item you wish) in the bank. Why would it matter to anyone what is inside a player's bank? As long as the player bought the bank slots with gold or crowns, why would anyone care what a player puts in the bank, even if they literally fill up all of their bank slots?

Your personal bank is for transferring items between characters. The Scarecrow Spectre Mask and Pumpkin Spectre Mask are Collectibles, which means they are immediately available on all characters anyway.

Essentially, they are designed such that you open your first Runebox of each, to unlock the collectible, and give the rest to other players through the listed channels, since opening them again yourself would be pointless.

Enodoc, I guess your answer will have to do. I still wish we could place runeboxes in our bank, or at least have a secure way to transfer runeboxes between our own characters, but your second paragraph helps me somewhat understand why this isn't so.

    Thanks!
