Restoration Staff of the Red Mountain

Platform: PC NA
Location: Stonefalls (Overworld, Delves and Treasure Chests)
Issues:

Sets that grant a bonus to melee damage will now drop more intelligently (i.e. a set with melee damage will no longer drop with a bow or stave).

All I seem to be getting for Red Mountain weapons are Destruction Staffs and Restoration Staffs, the problem with the Restoration Staff is that it is impossible to trigger the 5 set bonus. Why does this item even exist?

I'll post some pictures of the Restoration Staffs when I have the opportunity this evening.

Intelligent drops are a *** joke anyways.
How is Ebon resto staff in charged considered "smart loot"? How about Destro staff of Alkosh in decisive?

This *** was supposed to be fixed with this patch, @ZOS_GinaBruno . It clearly isn't... Will we every get any clarification on this?

Actually its not completely wrong, as stupid as that may sound at first glance.

Especially a destro staff, with the 3 hit component of force shock, could make quite some use out off red mountain. Obvisouly the set is stam based, so there are limitations, but in a world where hybrids are viable a red mountain destro is quite the intruiging option.
That said hybrids arent viable (at least not for non templars) and thus such a drop simply leaves disappointment.

On a trivia note restro staffs can trigger red mountain with light and heavy attcks, since it does not have the "melee" requirement of other sets.

any chance ZO$ can remove ornate trait from quest rewards now we can get set items from quests, nice blue quality 2hander in seventh legion set with ornate, such a waste

May have to give the restoration staff a try this evening, I had assumed that light and heavy attacks were not weapon abilities.

I asked this before and the reply was that the "intelligent" drops were only designed for sets that give certain bonuses. For example you should never get a restoration staff of the set that gives extra DW ability damage.

However, it is incredibly frustrating to get endless ice staves of Alkosh from vMOL last chest.

This is still happening quite often, items dropping that have no reason to exist. I haven't seen any change in the drop rate since 1T arrived.

If we come across more items of a similar nature should we continue posting pictures? Some of these sets may still have some relevance if run along with the Pelinal's Aptitude set.

Or all the resto and destruction Briarheart gear... that's almost all I get. If it's a weapon damage set I almost only ever get staves. Seriously, I got three sharpened Sunderflame staves, and it just... kills me, man. It kills me. I get sharpened in the things I can't use and Training/Prosperous in the things I can.

You know that most likely ALL sets are not dropping intelligently? The number of resto staves of stamina sets and such are staggering. I suggest checking every set, and also checking to make sure that the intelligent drop function is turned on.

From what I could tell, most of the sets in the game still aren't dropping "intelligently" chosen pieces as mentioned in that patch note since One Tamriel's launch.

Almost seems like it is doing exactly the opposite of what it was supposed to do.

@leowkwok actually that's a very, very good piece!! Sword-wielding spellcaster is actually ideal for magicka DPS - while dual-wield is preferred for the extra item, both dual-wield and two-handed have a passive bonus that increases overall damage, and this includes magicka!

@AbbieGoth Ah, well I'm pretty new to this game. I was thinking having that set on a staff would be much more beneficial. Didn't think many players who wield 2H would focus on magic attacks more than physical attacks
