Why viper set is not good in pve?

I see many people saying viper set is terrible in pve ..why?

Damage boost you get from that set is not good enough, compared to some other sets that flat increase your chc and chd as TBS, or NM that give valuable damage buff to entire group etc.

You could always have a build that increases your damage passively and perform timed bursts in pvp but its hell a lot easier to do it with sets like viper,velindreth,tremorscale,widowmaker etc.

Eh, one of them times i disagree with meta people. If s good, the difference is there is better. People word things wrong. I used spriggand and iper. 21k w/o warnhirm and raid buffs pretty easily. Completed vmsa just fine

If going by numbers thrn it's Automation + Sword Dancer.. (ulitmate dual wield sword build)

Easily 5K+ buff.. may be around 6k to more with fighter guild passives..

Met yesterday one guy, he was just not dying killing anything in City of Ash 2, no Vigor + serious DPS

Viper has a flat value that increases with only few, limited sources (such as CPs and crits). The Warrior Mundus has the same issue, they both give flat bonuses and become less and less effective the higher your base damage is, which is why Shadow & Thief are recommended.

If you're not comfortable with your rotation and have trouble pulling high numbers, then yes, Viper will be a higher DPS increase than most sets, but multiplicative value sets - TBS being the most notable - will benefit you more once you can reach decent numbers reliably.

Red Mountain is better in this regard, if you're really looking for a similar set.

I use TBS, Viper and Selenes. It gives you 30k (selene crit) + 12k (viper crit) free damage every 5~ seconds. I have a hard time managing resources but the free damage is great.

I'll change the viper set once I finally get my Maelstorm weapons, if the Lord and Savior RNGensus thinks I'm worthy of course.

so viper is only hittig once per 4 sec in melee, ok dmg arent low and also arent enough to make very good dps while you have hunding/TBS and alkosh, VO or at least agility jewer with maste/MSA weapons.
viper for 5 parts and only dmg from this set when from all other sets you have boost to all your skills etc, to your ults, abilites etc, viper is set selfworking, you wont get more damage to your abilities when from all other sets you will get much more boosts to all ALL your damage sources

Not saying this is wrong but I believe the 5pc bonus from automaton and sword dancer etc cannot be buffed. Meaning Buffs/Pots that increase weapon damage by 20% don't affect the bonus. Similarly fighters guild passive, dawn breaker, etc won't buff those numbers since the sets don't increase you weapon damage in general (ie doesn't show up on your character sheet).
