Most mDKs I've seen run talons, burning embers or deep breath, whip, fossilize, and a defensive skill (Dampen if light armor or wings if heavy armor) on their front bar. SE goes on back bar for bigger dragon blood heals or bigger healing wards. Giving up black rose or tavas favor for an easily obtainable buff doesn't make sense to me. Plus, rattle cage has no max magicka bonuses. Getting good damage numbers is more than stacking pure spell damage.
Moving things around to run inner light on the front bar doesn't make sense to me either on a heavy armor build. If you are giving up a slot for crit+max magicka bonuses, it makes more sense to run light armor for the spell pen.
At the end of the day, I don't think rattlecage is a good heavy armor set. If you want to spec into damage, go spinners+silks+valkyn with dual wield. If you want tankiness, go silks+black rose/tavas+bloodspawn with one hand shield.

I think Shalk will outperform Tavas over extended fights. Ensuring 50% or higher uptime on Tavas is difficult.
Regardless, I would never have considered inner light as an entropy replacement. Depending on your setup, there are a huge range of options. Front bar is almost always petrify, inhale, whip, Talons, wings. Back almost always mist, volatile, igneous. The heal is flexible, depending on whether a player likes to run resto or not. If not, then you can choose dragon Blood or energy orb. The remaining slot is interesting. I love cinder storm for some zone control. Adding burning or engulfing is excellent. If you run destroy, then WoE can be a nice dmg addition.

I didn't really see a point with igneous on a light dk, yes the return on stamina is nice but with 15k-20k stamina, it's giving 500-1k per cast...
Plus healing ward always give me max hp anyway and when i stack it with dampen..
Defending resto + igneous will still put me on like 25k spell resistance and 18-20k physical, even in light.

@AverageJo3Gam3r good points, but would like to point out that meteor cannot be empowered by might of the guild. However empowered chains should do the trick.
