Restyle gear to any known motif?

They will not do that. They are planning to sell those armors styles as costumes :( I already seeing Akaviri style armors being one of those crown store items in datamined.

So they sell you something in the crown store (motif) then work out a way to charge you a second time for it. Sounds like an ethical business model to me. /eyeroll

I support it fully, atm im stuck with looking like a rotten draugr because im using 2x sets that both have the draugr style motif. Id love to be able to change the gear to look like mercenary or hollowjack. But alas....

I can't stand those monster sets. There should be some way to change a set's look. I want to be powerful, but I don't want to be powerful and have a goblin's arse for a face while at it. Costumes are nice, but they are too few. Motifs have some great looking stuff.

I recall ZOS saying they'd never do that, though, or something to that effect. A year ago or so. Maybe they changed their minds? Anyone know?

By the way ignore the No, totally voted wrong. Not a rebel I swear!

    YOU CANNOT CRAFT DROP SETS

No matter how useful these sets are, they often are UGLY AS HELL.
One Sorc of mine is running the Necropotence set.
He is looking like a drag queen, not like a warrior.

The only existing solution for ugly drop sets:
    Wear a COSTUME/POLYMORPH.

However, I do not like costumes/polymorphs.
I would prefer to change the style of drop sets by crafting.

Was going to start a thread with this exact same idea. Would really love it. We can already change the appearance of some gear to Imperial. Extending this to BoP gear and allowing us to transmute to any style would be awesome. With so many new sets and so few crafted sets being viable, allowing players to control how their characters look will allow Zos to sell more motifs and make players happier with their characters and encourage farming because the gear will actually look cool and be functional.. win win.

They said recently that they have no plans to add it. But a year ago, they also said they had no plans to add RNG boxes, and here we are.

I say keep asking until they do have plans to add it.

Just so that everyone knows, my Altmer still can't have black hair. About a dozen of Altmer NPCs in the game have black hair. Just saying.

    Meet my characters:
    Command: Do the thing.

Zadarri, Khajiit Fist of Thalmor: The thing was done, as commanded.
Durza gra-Maghul, Orc blacksmith: The thing was done perfectly, in the most efficient way.
Tegwen, Bosmer troublemaker: You can't prove I didn't do the thing.
Sings-Many-Songs, Argonian fisher: Sure, I'll do the thing... Eventually. Maybe.
Aerindel, Altmer stormcaller: After extensive research, I've come to the conclusion that doing the thing would be a waste of resources.
Liliel, Dunmer pyromancer: Aerindel said I shouldn't do the thing. Something about "resources".
Gyda Snowcaller, Nord cryomancer: I will find a way to do it that won't waste resources and make Aerindel proud of me.
Beatrice Leoriane, Breton vampire: I persuaded someone else into doing the thing. You are welcome, dear.
Sahima, Redguard performer: Doing the thing sounds awfully unpleasant and really not my problem.
Ellaria Valerius, Imperial priestess: I'll pray to the Eight for the thing to be done, if it is Their will.

They should just make it like the costume dying. Allow subscribers to change the style and offer an item in the crown store to use for nonsubscribers.

No, for the simple reason that this is a non issue and it feels like a nitpicking type of thing to want this.

That being said, if they do indeed waste development time better spent else where, it shouldn't take too much as the play as Imperial DLC allows you to convert most armor to imperial.
As a casual player I was satisfied that at one point I had a char max level and near max crafting with almost all motifs and I pretty much lost interest. Then ESO discovered DLC's and now my main is just a wanabe and I am happily pulled back into the game.

Do you not understand that in a role playing game, a lot of players enjoy the customization aspect, so this is indeed an issue to those who want this option to customize? Probably not. It's as much an issue as any visual UI feature which annoys the fanbase.

I hate the fact that my characters all have to walk around in unattractive armour now, due to the majority of what they use not being crafted. All of the crafting motifs collected seem like a complete waste, it would be great if we could actually make use of them

Yep, my crafter is feeling kinda useless lately. She knows so many motifs, but what for? My characters will dress in rags instead, because they make them more powerful than the beautiful garments my crafter can make :unamused:

Now that ZOS is selling Crown Exclusive Motifs, they should really think about letting we actually use them.

By the way, if it used Mimic Stones to change the style of existing gear, I bet they would sell much more of these.

I like that idea Even better.

They'll put some much effort into building a vanity system such as housing, yet one of the more basic customization features an mmo can have, the armor fusion or appearance changer, they refuse to add. It's strange. It'd please SO many players.

There are many really awesome styles but what is the point of collecting them, or even having them in game if anyone who wanna be competitive in game won't even bother to use them?? It either need full revamp of crafted sets coz there is only couple of them can be used or (more prefeably) option to convert styles to finally have option to actually use those styles.

I would vote yes if they come up with something that would heat up the economy, for example: a crafter could craft a material that could restyle but, for restyling, you would need to "recraft" (spend all required material and tempers for that level and quality) the item that you want to restyle.

I would go with something like that, but adding some cheap crown store exclusive or not stuff for restyling I'm totally against it.

WoW and D3 have the transmog, f2p games like STO and Warframe allow the player to change the style of their equipment/ships etc on a whim (some styles/palettes etc require real cash though) i'm sure there are plenty of other B2p or f2p games out there that allow similar things.

I would love to do it but ZOS have shot it down already along with trait changes.

    Complain hard enough

Funny that the video they released where one of the developers is talking about the new housing and one tamriel keeps saying over and over it is about giving the player freedom in the game. Well how about letting me look however i want regardless of the actual gear equipped.

All other major MMOs give the player a way to change the look of an armor slot to that of a piece of equipment they actually own. Transmog in WoW, Glamour in FFXIV, ect. Next time i see a motif book in the crown store, i'm simply going to say "What is the point if the gear sets I am wearing come from dungeons, overworld, ect and it would just be a waste"

ZoS has the opportunity to cash in big time on those wanting to use certain motifs that are hard to acquire in game on their toons, but if they will never get to actually use them there is no point in obtaining them either in game or via crowns.

I think it has more to do with not wanting to take the time to develop, or the lack of knowledge of how they would develop it rather than any other particular reason.

I have been looking for a way to change the motifs of my end game golden gear for a few days, only to find out it's not possible.(WTF) Why do we then have all these kind of collectible motifs and receive new motifs/ event motifs if we cannot use them. Who is willing to remake a full sets of golden 160 gear just to use a different motif. I'm sorry but I feel screwed farming for the new Hollowjack motif as I cannot use it.

As I said in a similar tread I not only would I love this kind of function but ZOS should and must add a function like this. For master crafters it should be possible to use for example 100 material (Rubenite etc.) to change the motif of an armor piece to a motif you have learned (not possible on monster sets). It does not need to be cheap but it should be possible due to the fact we collected these motifs.

To be honest I always thought their was a way to change the motif as why would you add new motifs and event motifs to a game which is also gear based.

As a master crafter ZOS has ruined our economy. People no longer want crafted sets, they want dropped sets, which by the way were promised to never be better than crafted. There is absolutely no reason to grind motifs or buy them from the crown store anymore. All this time and work to get styles in the game was completely wasted with OT.

Being able to change the style of a dropped set would do wonders for us who have spent so much time and effort on crafting. @ZOS_GinaBruno Could you please pass along to those who have control of such things, that us crafters would like to have a word. We've been screwed and would like you to take a look at the issue plaguing us with this new design.

I disagree. The lore behind the undaunted sets is that it was crafted from the creatures you killed. Therefor it should maintain its style.

I would go even further and make another adjustment which is adding character look bookmark where You can cover any piece of gear You're wearing with some other piece of gear and You would have stats of gear You're wearing but look of gear You have in bookmark. It would be even better then restyling gear because it would allow to have look of any level armors in certain styles ( for example lv 1-14 daedric shield covering cp 160 breton shield)

I crafted my gear not long ago with the mino style but damn this new halloween style, the grim-crown-exclusive one... <3

Yesterday I spent so much money, again, I don't even want to count it. But, 160cp materials (which I already had), plus all the tannins... kuta X_X

And worst is yet to come: The skinchanger motif looks unreal and I know myself, I am already saving money for all the tannins and kutas again.

At least there is nothing else in game that is worth my gold but housing is coming and I will have to decide, i guess, between cool furniture and cool armor xD
