PSA: Do Not Buy Race Changes!

After much internal struggle I made the choice to change my neglected magic sorc to a stam sorc.

Less then a week later this character became stuck on one skill bar. He has both weapons equipped. Weapon swap only sheathes and unsheathes the weapon. I have tried everything possible in game and on my ps4 to fix. After 6 weeks of tickets the only thing I have got is: this bug is being passed on to our developers.

All of my other characters who have never had a race change work fine. Someone at customer service said to post a video for the devs so I'm going to add it here.

If they could credit a race change to my account, I could try to reset him as a fix. (to the same race)

Basically I'f you get a race change there is a chance it will break you character and ZOS will do nothing about it.

To date I've probably purchased/used race change tokens 10-15 times on 8 out of 9 characters trying to find the perfect combination...never had any issue as a result other than not liking the change and doing it again

. May be something unrelated/coincidence?

are you sure that it was caused by the race change? I am on PC EU, but I changed my altmer to redguard, my stam DK, and I did not encounter any problems with it

I used a potion and my tv turned off.

Using a potion turns your tv off.

I changed my ugly hated Orc to a cool Redguard with no probs at all. PC EU

I don't think it's related to the race change. I've had a similar issue pop up multiple times across a few of my characters, and none that I've done a race change on. It always seems to resolve itself, so I have no idea what's causing it.

I don't think its coincidence that after a 1.5 years of playing this happened within hours of play after a race change.

It happened while I was using overload as a 3rd bar. So i'm pretty sure the main cause lays in that.

Do you guys really not care how abysmal customer service is?

I have 7 days played on this character and now all he can do is pick flowers... -_-

I changed a Redguard to a Kajiit and I havent had any problems at all.

have done multiple race chgs with no sign of the issue you describe. one was with a sorc also.

i ate carrots, there was a hurricane.

But more to the point, have you noticed any significant patches or updates or other changes to the game system they made on the server side or other that would maybe have also been happening about the same time you were changing characters?

I think if i put my mind to it there may be a few game changes made in the vicinity of 7-8 days ago give or take a few.

of course, overload bar has always been flawless without bug or glitch so that is one thing to rule out safely.

I just had a thought....perhaps hit the respec shrine and reset your character. If it works, yeah it sucks you had to pay gold to fix it, but it might work. If it doesn't...hopefully support can fix it. Worst case scenario...delete the alt and remake

Thanks, I did that as well as strip naked and jump off a cliff. A couple times...

If anyone has any other ideas, I'm open to try!

Question to the OP if you're still around.....did you loose your 9 skill racial points?

Did your issue ever get resolved or did they refund you the crowns?

Asking because my character on Xbox one changes from Redguard to high elf and I've lost all 9 skill points

Ok but can anyone confirm with certainty that a full skill reset actually gives the lost 9 skill points back or are they forever lost?

I ran into the 9 point racial skill issue too. I had 18 unspent skill points before changing my Imperial to a Bosmer. Before the change, all my Imperial passives were fully spec'd. Afterwards, my Bosmer had no racial skills (not that I expected it to) and I still had 18 skill points. Regardless of the experience others have had using the race change features, there are issues attached to it. If you have no unspent skill points, then those 9 missing points become a major issue.

I suspect it may work similar to the vampire tree. Those points disappear until you respec, but not willing to fork out for a respec until someone preferably from ZoS can confirm we'll get those points back.

A mechanic changes your transmission and now you car doesn't move when you put it into drive. I"m sure the mechanic could argue correlation causation and yes he could be right because he never messed one up before and had done 1000 perfectly. But that doesn't mean it's NOT the cause either. It does mean that it is a possible suspect and worth noting.

You look at what's changed recently and eliminate that as an option and then move on to the next most likely culprit.

If it happened in one minute after the race change, then you might be able to conclude a causal link, otherwise, it is just coincidence.

As for things to try, get naked. I mean remove every piece of gear, I don't think you have to go so far as to bank it, but maybe. Then, equip some other weapons, they don't matter, so it can be mob trash or stolen loot. See if you can bar swap.
