PC vs PS4 cross switch

rebornhunter25
Alright so I think that PC and PS4 players should be able to play together .. my reason for this is most people can't afford a high end computer for the PC game to work , and getting another PS4 would be out of the question because of the yr ps plus fee plus ESO fee...

Even though I would love to do that ethier option what I have available is 1 laptop and one PS4 :)
So in times like this which I'm sure is the case for most roommates or spouses or what have you

Most people use PlayStation more so it shouldn't even be a question .. buy what you need and let us have it :)
Its just a game, not real life... don't take it seriously

Xbox has gone on record to support both PC and Xbox as well as Xbox one and PS4 with PC but Sony keeps responding to PS4 and PC. Not PS4 and Xbox one....Microsoft removed the barriers....Sony has not and in order for this to happen, PSN has to work with Xbox live.

Xbox said sure and Sony said we already do PS4 and PC which was not the topic of discussion.

So Sony was already set up to work cross platform. Microsoft came up with their own system afterwards and then chucked a sook because Sony isn't willing to rework its entire system to work with Microsoft's later system. Yeah totally sounds like Sony's fault...

Unless ZOS disables the ability for PC to use addons especially things like master merchant skyshard and harvesting helpers hell no! even so the easy ability to program macros, uncapped camera pan speed, and ability to dodge and bash without having to block thus halting stam regeneration is too much of an advantage. Finally the servers can't handle the platforms being separate much less integrated

You do realize that FFXIV is not on Xbox One, unlike FFXI, because MS would not allow cross platform play, right? War Thunder? Same reason it's not on Xbox One. Warframe? The reason DE released on PS4 first as they could test cross-play if needed.

As for Microsoft's recent change of heart, when you are losing the console war why not try to blame your competitor for something you prevented from occuring in the first place.

As for Sony, I agree that they have not said yes yet, but what incentive do they have? They have sold far more consoles and already have cross-play with PC for several games.

Sure, I look forward to playing with my friends that own a PS4/Xbox One but please stop pretending that MS somehow enabled cross-play when they were the ones that only recently changed their stance.

PS4 vs Xbox compatibility is simple. It comes down to marketing.

Last generation Xbox was the leader in console sales, they did not want cross platform compatibility. Now Sony has the lead in console sales, they do not want it.... The leader does not want to take away from their potential market share, being as they have the dominant product, why allow the other guy marker share to breath? Sony wants users to have the added reason of someone buying a PS4 to play with their friend, so Xbox uses this to make Sony look bad, and vise versa, its all a big game. Don't drink the koolaid.

Actually that's not entirely true. The game is not on Xbox one because the game didn't have the social requirements that Xbox live requires. The developers in the interview reveal why the game was declined by Xbox one and then they also talk about cross platform play. The way they wanted to setup cross platform similar to how ZOS hoped to release this game outside of console requirements.

Specifically voice chat, and other Xbox live profile requirements instead of running an account, payments and other features outside of Xbox live. Remember this game has a few exceptions and even still the PS4 and Xbox one options differ in certain areas for account services and payment options.

Regarding your assumption about whose winning the console war....units or widgets don't define wins and losses. Profits and losses win and based solely on Sony's claim to have sold more u it's they are trading over $20 less than Microsoft on the stock market. Real money matters not stupid unit sales in a few short years as Sony was over $1blion in debt since PS3 so they need to do more than sale units.

And to add...while ps4 is being distracted Xbox and PC are a force to recon with. So much so that Steam is now concerned. All while Xbox plans to launch a console that runs the oculus rift.

I honestly didn't miss our discussions. That being said I have no bias concerning who wins the console wars from one generation to the next and I prefer when all platforms are treated equally. Currently I do own a PS4 but I was an XBL subscriber for over 10 years so I know the complete history of MS and MMOs dating all the way back to True Fantasy Live Online and even before.

In summary, there is a singular reason why MS failed to allow an MMO to operate on XBL and it had to do with MS protecting its closed network. Needless to say it was not until FFXI when MS made an exception and that was just in an effort to push its Japanese market. It was not because they were ready to open up XBL to remotely accessing MMO servers, although some were later allowed. This is all documented history so please do not pretend this is just my assumption/opinion on the issue.

Finally, regarding who is winning the console wars, MS lost it the moment they forced the Kinect as part of the Xbox One. It was not until they unbundled it and dropped the price that they stared to gain market share, but Sony crushed them worldwide until that point. Again, this is all documented in so far as either will admit. Comparing public stock for a conglomerate proves nothing about a single division.

Again, this is all documented in so far as either will admit. Comparing public stock for a conglomerate proves nothing about a single division.

So you decided to tag me to dispute something that's of your opinion and then you start your reply with you not missing our discussions. You later go on defense suggesting so have a bias....owning both consoles doesn't make you unbiased. I own by choice gaming PC and an Xbox One, but don't own a PS4 as the games that interest me exist on either platform but that shouldn't suggest any bias nor should anyone assume that owning one, both or three or more platforms makes them unbiased.

It's also interesting that you're choosing the words to suggest Microsoft failed at a game when it's an Xbox live topic. Literally go read the banter between both and if you look objectively, the issue was 100% with the developer. They specifically made their game and did not bother to ask Xbox what requirements they needed to offer in order to certify to have their game on their network. They also didn't bother to read any agreements and so the actual issues aren't cross platform but instead, it's a game that lacks the basic requirements so the developer decides to pout and throw fits and this results in their game not being on the console at all.

See it's easy to get caught up in the media play of such a topic but the reality is that their game isn't on Xbox one at all because of the developers decisions not as result of Xbox. Next is the topic of cross platform which publicly is not blocked. That whole studio is a hot mess....they are over the top arrogant in blaming Xbox for their own mistakes. That would be like ZOS blaming Sony or Xbox for the console delays of over a year. Also, notice that today and even into the past Sony has stated over and over again that their inter st is with PC and PS4 cross play. Not ever has Sony entertained or opened the possibilities for PS4 and Xbox one players to play this game together. It's convenient to try and blame one side but when that argument falls apart....it's odd to continue that same argument. The actual reasons are with the developer tho and I'm sure if they would get their act together, before going into their own fit storm, their product would have existed if both PSN and Xbox Live requirements were met and agreed upon by all three. Because that's not the case and because literally the developer has publicly said time and time again that they will not change but instead that Xbox needs to change, it's obvious where the problem lies.

Perception has caused you to point at Xbox but oddly enough, smaller developers more recently have been given the green light to have cross platform and later stated that Sony was blocking this and not Xbox.

In closing you continue to choose a particular media feed point of view even after reading my comment of what matters. Units sold is not a measuring stick alone. It's profitability and growth which is not in line with who you suggest is "winning". Also, it's interesting that you're calling it a war as the media is trying to create something that doesn't exist. There isn't a lack of music met or lack or limit of consoles owned so there never was any war. Both Xbox and Sony sought out to sale and profit more than the prior console and both have done so. They both are winning in that respect however, financially while Sony contInes to beat on their chest about unit sales, the entire last quarter they didn't outsale xbox and two quarters ago, they reported a hefty loss vs a profit.

You also suggest the Kinect as the means to why Xbox is selling less units, but the Kinect hasn't been required for over two years....is this just another media comment as you've not stated any facts behind anything, is just media opinions which most are waaay off base. According to actual feedback, the Kinect had nothing to do with the lack of sales, instead it was an unclear presentation of the Xbox product that caused the initial sales in year one to fall behind and later the choice of hardware use (not the Kinect) that caused developers game to r beer less than 1080p with no ease of use in developer tools.

All of those items have been addressed other than 1080p gaming which the next Xbox one installment accomplishes. So in closing, unless there's some imaginary finish line that you're basing these media opinions off of, it's hard to suggest that anyone is winning. It's only easy to draw from the media a units sales comparison but oddly enough Xbox hasn't reported any actual sales numbers in over a year so based on the media Sony has outsold the Xbox one either 3:1 or 4:1 depending upon the article and timeframe. If that's the case and Sony is reporting 6 to 7 figure losses and trading $20 or more less than Xbox.....how is that consider d winning?
