Crit chance vs. Crit modifier (console)

Since there is no feature to display crit mod, what's the base? And I'm not sure what actually effects this value. Would like to know to determine whether I should use Thief or Shadow. With my ever changing builds it would be highly convenient.

Base is 0.5 where critical modifier is defined as additional done over normal damage (as opposed to being defined as a multiplier).

Full details for critical modifier calculation
This formula has been updated due to changes in [2.2.4]
    8380394feeb5f779fdb00b73b0ec0245.png
where Fl is the floor function, Rd is the round function and Elfborn_Real is similar to the tooltip value of Elfborn but when it is used no unexpected rounding errors are found.
    92bf22dd364304b63575d313660f15c7.png
Rd(x, 2) rounds a number to 2 decimal places and Fl(x, 0.01) truncates a number at the 2nd decimal places. Here are examples of both functions in action, Rd(23.458,2) = 23.46, Fl(23.458,0.01) = 23.45. Skills tested were the Piercing Spear passive and Trap Beast (Minor Force). Thanks to @Beltan3 and @hofawd with some help in getting this formula down. It appears that Critical multiplier is floored after Major Force is calculated but further test are needed to confirm this.

Due to rounding errors, Elfborn still suffers from jump. Any points in between jumps do not increase your critical modifier. @Erraln has kindly listed all the jump points in this thread but for convenience, I’ll put them here as well. The Elfborn jump points are at

    1,2,4,7,9,12,15,18,22,26,29,33,38,42,46,51,56,61,66,71,76,81,87,92, and 98.

Also Thief is better than Shadow when your critical modifier is at least 1/11 (~9%) more than your critical chance.

Sorry. With the lack of actual values on console I wouldn't know how to figure the ratio. Math isn't my strong point either..

That post raised the question. I'll assume that sDK will benifit from the thief over shadow.

To get your crit modifier, you buff yourself up and then hit the same mob until you get a crit and a non-crit. Divide the two numbers and subtract one. That will be your critical modifier.

Base modifier is 1.5x damage. So if your attack hits for 1000, it is 1500 on a crit.

Nightblades and Templars have a passive that gives you an extra 10%, so a 1.6x multiplier.

This can be further improved by adding Champion Points into Precise Strikes (on stamina build- sDK).
@Asayre posted the jump points (1,2,4,7,9,12,15,18,22,26,29,33,38,42,46,51,56,61,66,71,76,81,87,92, and 98.) If you are placing CP in Precise Strikes you want to place them on one of these increments. Due to rounding, any points placed in between the listed numbers are wasted.

I run the the Thief on Stam DK. It is generally considered the way to go for PVE content.
    Wood Elf Stam NB (PVP)
    Redguard Stam Sorc (PVP)
    Altmer NB (DPS)
    Imperial DK (Tank)
    Redguard DK (DPS)
    Altmer Templar (Healer)

So what are jump points? How do I know what jump point im at? Is there an addon for this

The way % gets rounded off means that you get max return at the aforementioned amounts.
