Honest question devs:

When you designed sets for OT, did u like really work on ONE set, then to 'match/balance' said set, did you purposely create 2-6 other absolute garbage sets so that you could flood the drops with THOSE sets?

Just seems some sets had some insightful thought put into them, but the other 2 sets in each zone are just absolute bloody trash. For anyone. Also, those trash sets seem to pollute the drops (IE: example for when hunting spinner and spriggans sets, the other 2 sets in each zone ratio with the 'good' set was like 1 : 6 : 7 (Like 1 spinner vs 6 / 7 of the others)

Serious honest question, not looking to troll or anything (It would make sense for u to do that, I mean the more one has to 'grind' for something, the longer they stay logged in so therefore the more potential cash that member would spend)

Your post caught my eye. I wasn't aware that "devs" responded to questions like this, ever.

If I was a dev and read this question I would not answer it because no one would really believe this is an honest question. Its basically "I was just curious if you purposely did <insert bad mechanic here> to waste our time". It biases the question and basically implies they are either incompetent or malicious. Just like most threads on here complaining about the game.

And BTW I like all the sets including the ones you use as an example as trash, its just not what you want. Savior's hide in Malabal Tor is a very interesting set for werewolves for example. Yes more people want Spinner's Garments in that zone, but the alternatives aren't trash.

Also, by the same standard there are many zones with only "trash" sets, right? The current Meta loves just a few sets, but what I like about 1T is that you have a lot of options to make your own build and apologize to no one.

I would assume yes most sets are made better then others, but that's the way designing works. You can't make a set to much like another otherwise you get choked with pieces that mismatch but would be perfect for each other.

no one believes its real ? except maybe that silly OP(when I do in fact think its a honest question, if its NOT, IE if its bait, then those who 'do not believe' its real think the devs ARE as you say: incompetent, or just outright malicious.

And sure, any of the sets can be made to work on special little snowflakes (That will never see the end of any dungeon or where any group relies on their input/help) but but seriously most of the sets are niche/hybrid/pointless sets.(Some actually do absolutely nothing or have effects that are easily replaced by other sets that do what the broken set does + everything else too)

I mean i am glad roleplayers and similar folk enjoy the new 'nifty' sets, but honestly look them over and u can see 2 out of 3 sets(IE sets in any zone) are usually decon junk.

One man's trash is another man's treasure.

So here is where the forum warriors might not be in-line with people in the game. My feeling is that the vast majority (like over 95 percent) of the players:
    • make up their own sets and builds
    • Are not running veteran trials or vMA
    • Like questing, doing delves, making alts, role playing, collecting stuff, etc.

Basically almost all players are special little snowflakes, as it should be.

One might even say that hardcore-min-maxers are also special snowflakes, right? Best food buffs, stacks of bets potions, all gold armor of *exactly* the right type and traits, correct mundus stone, the *exactly* correct enchants, the *proper* rotations with animation cancelling and weaving. Blood Spawn kill times of XX or less, etc. Sounds exhausting.

Most of the actual people in the game I run into is ignorant of most of all that. They login to explore, run a few dungeons (with people who don't care about whether you are 14k or 50k dps), do some questing, make some gold and have fun.

1T brought a lot more fun for most people, and all these great sets to play with adds to build experimentation and enjoyment.
