Regardless, now that I understand what the major change was, it's clear that issue is the "stam meta" rather than missing some golden era of PvP.

    No, it's both.

PvP golden era was absolutely pre 1.6 - that is beyond refute. Numbers, servers, players, competition, guilds, you name it.

Stam classes are all the same since 1.6, which is Mano's point. ESO PvP has been one big androgynous mess for a while.

If you haven't learned by now that the only direction this game's pvp goes is downhill, I truly pity you. For tis was a fun game at one point, now being propped up by nostalgia and casuals (no offence to the casuals it's just almost all hardcore pvpers left already =P).

Ye, even during 1.6 we still had a lot of guilds, but 1.6 killed it for a lot of them. The PvP population and number of PvP guilds is significantly lower than before 1.6.

not me. nn 20+man groups spamming nothing but elemental wall and some ults and abusing a bugged skill (wall) and an imbalanced proc set (1.5 skoria was jsut as bad as today's stuff) block casting everything was also pretty bad. interruptible heavy attack though... <3 but i don't even remember if that was 1.5 or 1.4

They're scattered in a bunch of games waiting for a new MMO that looks good from my experience. Most are giving up on MMO's at least for now.

Well, I admit the current DC... infestation... has a whole lot of Viper/Velidreth pasteurized processed cheese food in it. And before that the Malubeth & Stormknight crews... Maybe you're right, it's just the diet you get used to.

And yeah, I'm wearing Grothdarr; being tanky doesn't help much against multiple set procs so I might as well try to kill someone. But my desire to go anywhere in Cyrodiil has been sapped.

I, for one, am taking a break from the PvP side of the game and just running around farming new sets. Kind of the beauty of the game (having different aspects you can play), I am an avid PvP fan but it's not in a good place right now (unless you count BWB) and so I just stay on the PvE side of things.

It's sad, PvP was once so much fun.

Its funny, once there was treads how bad VR systhem and softcaps are. I dont think that players once scream for changes still play the game because who wasnt able to deal with 1.5 mechanics is also not able to deal with it to day. ZOS waste a lot of time for redisigne there game instead working on real problems (blockcasting, class-stam magicka balance and the lootsysthem).
PVP Saint-Bud magicka Templar: AR 49
PVE Lord Victarion mDK : dro'm-Athra-Destroyer pre Morrowind retired for crafting
PVE Ramsay-Bolton magicka NB: Voice of Reason Clockwork City Patch retired
VAA hm/ VHRC hm/ VSO hm/ VMOL hm/ VHOF hm/ VAS hm clear

Stop playing PVE because its boring, content not disigned for melee players and class balance and sustain is ***

CU would be cool... But I doubt it will be released until 2018 at the earliest. Beta in early 2017, maybe.

    Two things:
    1. Yes, I read Moby Dck cover to cover. Parts of it are absolutely marvelous. "Give not thyself up, then, to fire, lest it invert thee..."
(Also, Khan quoting Melville is awesome.)

1a. There is another book with a talking Gorilla. It is one of the most vapid, pseudo intellectual pieces of junk I have ever been forced to read.

    2. While I love Dylan, awarding him the literature prize is ridiculous.... Although I'm sure this opinion will start quite the argument.

I rolled a Stamblade for my main PvP char at PC launch (!) and refused to wear a pretty dress and play with wooden sticks.

Using your logic, quoting the guy who just posted that magicka is still overpowered in PvP proofs that there is no current magicka meta.

You might actually be an idiot man. The only thing magicka has going for it is destro ult. If your idea of balance is to add an ult that's just a prox det that goes off every second for 10(?) seconds I really don't want to play any games you have a hand in. Aside from that you have no reason to be magicka unless you're healing. A lot of people prefer magicka, but it's just simply not as good and that's an unbiased fact. 1.4/1.5 had actual balance, even between stam/magicka. It wasn't around long enough to develop past stam = ganker. Steve kinda figured it out imo. I remember him from back then and he really stood out not just because he was stam, but because he made just as much of an impact as the other players around him. If you look back on the game's history no one figured out that negate was a good ultimate until like a month into the game (lol). It took at least 2-3 patches before Krim figured out nightblades could not only compete but be potentially the best class in the game when played right. Before that every nightblade used a bow or they rerolled. DK builds evolved a lot from launch to 1.5. A lot of changes to gear/stat distributions. Templars weren't even the preferred healers early on. Sorc resto heals were insanely stronger and they had better sustain. None of these things happened because of buffs/nerfs, but just because players figured things out. The ability was there, just player ingenuity hadn't gotten to the point where stam became widespread outside of gankers.

TLDR, redesigning your entire game when it was working well wasn't the answer.
