5x Rettlecage + 5 x lich +3 willpower. Magblade.

So I have this build idea. And farming COH and VOM, for the gear sets. I will have this completed when the gosh darn lich resto staff finally drops.
I assume you guys are familiar with the sets mentioned above and I was hoping you could critique this set up and may be provided alternative set up.

Basically here is the idea:
1. Lich will take care of the magic regen. (2 x armor, 2x jewelry 1x resto ). Jewelry all spell dmg.
2. Rattlecage will take care if spell damage providing 5 set banus of 358 spell dmg and major sorcery. (5 x armor ). Since it is heavy armor after you get hit you get additional 200 dmg .
3. Willpower ( 2 x swords and 1 jewelry )

You basically do not need sap essence or degeneration on your bar to proc the major sorcery. Which means you could use something else that could either provide ssurvivability or dmg or utility.

I think this set up has potential, but I feel like I might be missing something. Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks. Sori engrish iz not first language.

Rattlecage 5 piece is almost always a mistake.

Especially when you have sap....which provides damage and survivability.

I see your point, DeadlyRecluse. I use sap essence all the time to take NB out of stealth, or when I am running bomb build to finish of some of the low HP players that survived the proxy det combo.

I understand that if you have the Rettlecage set and you do cast an ability that procs the major sorcery then it is kind of a waste.

But I am having trouble finding any other set that gives as much spell dmg as Rattlecage. hmm.. maybe use the Necropotence set for higher mana that will equate to higher spell dmg. but I don't know mana to spell dmg ratio.

BTW I'm loving Rattlecage too to free up a slot on skill bars but people seem anti it on here. I'm.gutted its only in Heavy Armour too for a mafia user

5 Necroprentence, 5 clever alchemist, 3 willpower would give pretty good stats. The sustain would be horrible though

4 elf bane, 2 vicious death (or torugs), 1 kena, 5 worm cult

Or if you want more sustain
5 julianos, 1 kena, 1 chokethorn, 5 worm cult

Or no sustain
4 elf bane or (martial knowledge), 3 willpower, 5 julianos

You can add worm cult & chokethorn to alchemist to give it sustain you just aren't doing dps w/o a potion so if they know your burst is coming they can heal through it

alternatives to rattlecage:

1) only for those with lots of fire damage (dk's and fire destro users): burning spellweave
2) alchemist
3) oldschool crafted: julianos / kagrenac / etc
4) spinner (not as much sd but penetration which has a similar effect. better if your skills scale strongly with magicka and less strongly with spelldamage, i.e. spamming force pulse a lot)
...
and if you're bombing a lot, there's always vicious death, still

that said, imho lich is just overkill reg on a NB. if you want to sustain, you can run siphoning, if you want to max-damage burst, you don't need as much reg and in groups you can even use spell sym. but i don't play NB mayself so i may be wrong here. it just looked to me that bombers generally ignore sustain altogther and that duel builds (with harness magicka, siphoning strikes and resto HAs) never run out of magicka even without any special sustain set. imho lich is a lot more interesting on sorcs (for those that are not running ele drain for penetration anyway) and dk's (that just need TONs of magicka but are probably better of with desert rose)

OK so 5 x necro. Set proved 4k Mana, which means 4000/ 10.2 = 392 spell dmg. Plus 4 item bonus of additional mana of 2901 /10.2 = 248.41. Total spell dmg of 676.

Plus 5x light armor spell pen. But you have to have your major sorcery buff and shade up for it to count. You also can get a better dumpen magicka shield .

Rattlecage will not give you spell pen and larger shield. But it will make you tanKY give you a constitution passive and additional 200 spell dmg. This means 558 spell dmg.

I guess you need to actually play with both setups to get the feel. I am leaning more towards rattlecage. Since you have those crazy burst builds that if you do not have the shields up you are done.

The spell damage to magicka ratio is close to 10.5 : 1
