what is the actual problem then?

Some builds/players have been penalized without warning or any information about how to fix the problem. A number of people I've encountered either in-game or online elsewhere (and here) are having to abandon characters or just walking away from the game because *suddenly* they can't go anywhere without getting killed.

Personally I have a few characters who are doing fine or even great and a few who are struggling unreasonably (mostly just time) with even overland mobs. I have mostly lower-to-mid level characters and don't have enough gold or crowns for random respecs at this point, and I could probably run a cookie-cutter build but don't particularly want to (especially since that's not guaranteed to work now if the balance has changed).

Hybrids like my battlemages seem more penalized now than a week ago. It was never considered an optimal build but I was doing fine in an area 8 levels above me before the update. Now overland mobs are a big time sink.

I know "filthy casuals" are reviled, but there are plenty of people playing who are following basic advice but not min/maxing, or running DPS calcs or grinding for the optimal gear sets. *Some* of them got clobbered by scaling while others didn't, and it's not yet clear how the behind-the-scenes rules are controlling that.

It would be nice if the devs would reveal that math, I'm sure some obsessive players are working on it, though.

I'll never know how difficult or easy One Tamriel is. I won't log in now because of many of the changes made. Just reading the patch notes made me sick. This game had such potential. It was actually halfway decent back when it launched, but not anymore. So sad. Too bad.
I am not spending a single penny on the game until changes are made to the game that I want to see.
    1) Remove having to be in a guild to sell items to other players at a kiosk.
    2) Cosmetic modding for armor and clothing.
    3) Difficulty slider.
    4) Fully customizable player housing that isn't tied to anything in the game other than having the correct resources and enough gold to build. Don't tie it to PvP, guild membership, or anything at all. Oh, make it instanced so as not to take up world map space, too. Zeni screwed this one up already.
Any /one/ of these things implemented would get me spending again, maybe even subbing.

I won't know for another seven days, but I think I like what I've read so far.

I just don't want them to up the difficulty to where I have to be social to handle even mundane tasks like running through a Delve.

It is simply not possible for me to group up with and/or hop on a headset at the drop of a hat. I would wake up too many people in my house (I have a deep voice that carries really well through walls...).

If they ramp up the difficulty to try-hard levels and I'm forced to group with people, that would make the game nigh unplayable for me.

I really don't want to have to put this game down. I really enjoy running around as a Lone Wolf and just adventuring at my own pace.

    I am indifferent about it.
I havent noticed anything being harder. Some things have more health, but that's really about it. Things just take a little longer, and admittedly, they needed to do something to combat power creep. If anything, they should have added a lot more damage to the health they gave everything, but that would have had a slightly different group of people crying about it. There do seem to be a handful of new one-shot mechanics I never noticed before, so I like the change for the most part.

well, speaking as a filthy casual, my experience has been different to yours. taken a couple of my toons out to run around various areas.... my only gripe is that i can no longer solo world bosses..... but, taking a step back and being sensible about it, that is not a bad thing. i like the fact that i can go back to quests i had skipped and they are now a bit of a challenge.

but the big plus is that i can take my toons round craglorn and achieve something solo rather than having to depend on a group that will fall apart because things didn't go immediately to plan or the vagaries of someones net provider.

I picked the "enjoy new difficulty" option but that's not really accurate.

To me, the difficulty of One Tamriel is on par with that of the DLCs that were already scaled in this way, which is where I've been spending the overwhelming majority of my PVE time outside of Cyrodiil anyway. So it's much the same for me.

Overland is slightly more challenging with this scaling than it was previous, and I think it's a good compromise between being easy enough for newbies and not blind facerolling for vets.

I don't think it's possible for a game to have one difficulty which is right for everyone. Different players will have different levels of ability, different opinions on how hard the game should be and different preferences.

For example when my husband and I started playing Dragon Age Inquisition we were both dissatisfied with the Normal difficulty but for totally different reasons. He switched down to easy because he wanted combat to be quick and reactive so he didn't have to pause and could just play his character, letting the NPCs do their own thing. He also wanted to focus mainly on the story, anything other than a quick flashy fight was getting in the way of the game for him.

Meanwhile I switched up to hard mode because I really enjoy the tactical combat (or at least I did after a few updates when it was working properly). I'd carefully set up the AI for each person in my party, switch into tactical mode as soon as a fight started and pause every few moves to assess the situation and issue new commands. If I didn't need to do that the fight felt disappointing.

I keep on hearing that One Tamriel is fine for max level players but impossibly hard for anyone below that. Meanwhile I'm here playing my level 1 - 28 characters (28 is my highest, lowest is a new one where I chose to play through Coldharbor) with whatever gear they picked up and I think it's about right. I've still not died unless I did something stupid (like going afk at the bank with a 4g bounty) but I feel like I actually need to use my skills in the fight and dodge attacks or move around. Before I was always over-leveled for what I was doing and fights were all easy, even bosses. I'd use a consumable before the fight started then feel like I'd wasted it when I was finished 30 seconds later.

One Tamriel made the game too easy.
I'm lvl29 and in my experience dificulty right now is an illussion..
If i go to quest around - in a zone that was previously lvl25-30 - i get ultra bored because now my enemies, whatever they may be, they've got a chunk of health, and they deal such a low ammount of dmg in relation to the amount of hp i've got, that i dont see why should i fear anyone.. Before OT i could 1-2 combo and move on. Now it takes me like 2 minutes, spaming whatever i've got. Boooo...

As for One Tamerial....... I was not excited before and I do not care for it now. All the bugs are just topping on the cake for me. I'm taking an ESO break for a bit, let the bugs and the market chill out. For me... I've always found the leveling system a bit silly, but also respect it because it is very unique from other mmo's... But, now?.... Having everything leveled to 160 is lame... Not being about to collect low level mats on a high level character is lame.... This equipment star rating, I have no really read into yet, But, I do know I have full 160 yellow gear, weps, and jewelry and all my stars are white so seems pretty lame.

This is my One Tam rant. I really hope you all enjoyed it. I'm out. <3

    All of the Above.
I chose all of the above because -

I like the increased difficulty. It reminds me of the game back in the very beginning, when Dolmen's and world bosses required more than one person, before they dumbed the difficulty down to child safety level.

I think the star rating is silly, and I'd hoped never to see something even resembling "gear score" of any kind in the game. It isn't numerical of course, but still, I don't see it as necessary.

I am still really cross about the crafting changes. Having a split between max level characters, and new baby characters, I either find very high materials, or very low materials, nothing in between right now.

I would have preferred that my crafter was still able to find mid-tier materials like cotton or high iron ore when visiting Grahtwood for instance. At the very least I think they should have kept some of the nodes in those areas "zone leveled" to the old system so that crafters and collectors weren't put out.
I don't want to have to keep certain characters at certain levels just to be able to find cotton or spidersilk or something like that, or have to buy it. It seems utterly ridiculous that Zenimax gimp their players and their own crafting system that they were once so proud of this way.

I may be going about collecting in the wrong way, but it doesn't seem like that. I have a max level who has no crafting skills at all, and she finds end game materials and things like jute, wherever she goes.
My crafter finds all end game materials.
It is incredibly frustrating, and I curse the people who made this utterly stupid decision every time I harvest a node.

I'm mostly indifferent about some aspects like dueling. I get annoyed with ability spam for nothing more than flashy lights to annoy people in end game areas, and I am doubly annoyed by the addition to that, of dueling in banks or stores. I have no issue with folks dueling outside, but have some damned consideration, and stop doing it in shops or at crafting stations. Other than that is seems a fun addition for people and they seem to be enjoying it.

I haven't seen anything made easier yet so far. Except when people are farming world bosses, and you're lucky to get one hit on it before it's dead. But that really relates to the sheer amount of people hacking at it, rather than its real difficulty.

All in all, OT is not as bad as I originally feared, and I am glad for that. It's nice to see groups at Dolmen's and WB's again.
I just take exception to certain parts of it.

One Tamriel made the game too easy.
From what i gather the people that vote in favor talk about pledges and endgame stuff.
Some people that think its hard must be playing weak builds/classes coz i'm newb, and the game is freaking easy. Might be my build....

There's some lack of perspective. From which point of view is the game hard or easy?
I define it easy since lvling up is easy. Casual players find this to their liking so they ignore this, and might think is hard coz dungeon and pledges are hard!

This game is clearly divided between gamers and casuals. And their owners wanna have them all pleased. And it-is-not-working.
From my point of view, this game is most definetly a casual game. And trying to beat that appearence is screwing things up badly.. weird results honestly.
