Worth Coming back?

No, it's not good to come back. Support is horrible, many get no response at all while others get canned responses that have nothing to do with their problems. There are still bugs around that have been reported in beta. New content gets smaller and smaller... Crown store is filled with stuff for real money. Gambling boxes are coming, too. They have really cool stuff, but chances are so low it's a complete ripoff. And then there is the blatant cheating and exploiting with little to no consequences.

I play just because of my guildies. But I am going back to Eve online. Even the forums there are less toxic than eso now...

I don't think I've ever played an mmo that didn't have bugs from beta. I'm not saying that to excuse the issue, but I just realized that.

unless they like PvE dungeons and 2 large and decent dungeons come with it.

dont forget Imperial city is a PvE/PvP area the only truly merged area for that stuff tbh.

It's alright for a few weeks, but definitely don't make this your "main game." PVP balance is pretty bad, there's very little in the way of challenging PVE content (95% of it is faceroll easy, but they've recently inflated the enemies' health pools to artificially increase the time it takes to clear each dungeon), and the way they monetize the game is pretty shady (the head of marketing at ZOS is infamous for creating Cartel Packs in SWTOR and is bringing a very similar system to ESO, google "cartel packs" for more info) Quests are okay, but the stories seem to repeat themselves ("Thank you for saving our town from goblins! Now save the next town over from daedra, and the town after that from the enemy faction! Don't forget to collect 20 foul hides for me while you're there!") Definitely don't pay full price for the game, either, maybe $20 tops, and definitely don't buy anything in the crown store apart from DLCs.

Seriously, these forums are the worst place to ask. The forums seem to attract a lot who wish to whine and complain. And while this is a trend in most games, there tends to be a lot of exaggeration when people are not playing (meaning they are at the forums thinking of the game, and not inside the game actually playing it). Attitudes inside game chat seem to be much less toxic (emphasis on less, as there will always be toxic opinions including some from myself).

But these types of threads are always a pet peeve to me. None of us are you. We can't tell you what will make you happy and your enjoyment will be based on your own perspective. Is it worth coming back? How would any of us know if it is worth it to YOU? The general theme for these types of topics is... Fanboys and haters line up and start giving me your opinions. There are plenty of other threads about what is happening in the current live game, so why even make a thread like this? Just read the other threads and get an idea from them.

Hi, I was part of the Closed Beta years back, but left since I didnt feel like paying a sub plus felt like the game was Meh since I wanted Skyrim with Co-Op.

To answer this part directly without bias; the game is as close as it will ever get to "Skyrim with Co-Op" since U12 (a.k.a One Tamriel)

This may not be helpful but it is hard to say whether it is worth coming back for you specifically.

I have not played from the beta to be able to compare the two. My understanding is that there have been a number of incremental improvements since the beta.

However at the end of the day it is still fundamentally the same game. I came to it after Skyrim and found it felt quite different. It felt like a strange beast. A lot of single play oriented content with multiplayer capability added on. The whole phasing model and compromises to allow multiple players to experience the world in various different states while lots of players complete quests in parallel. These compromises reduce the immersion compared to Skyrim.

That said I play the game a lot. I got used to the feel of the game until it didn't feel so weird anymore.

I don't know how much the game has to have changed to not be considered "Meh" by you. The main quests and alliance quests have not really changed in the past 2 years.

Are you able to just give it another try without committing lots of money to it? In the end you will be the best judge of whether it is worth playing again for you. I can't predict how you will feel about it.

No one can answer that question for you, everyone wants different things form the games they play different playstyles and so on. Does not cost you anything other than a little time to try it out, since you already own it, but I think most people that ask this question the game will never be worth coming back to for some of them.

For me when I leave a game I never go back, or care about the game I am done with it, but that's just me.

    I would say yes.

I enjoy questing, exploring, dungeons and even dueling is soo fun. Yeah, sure, there are a few bugs here and there, but at least nothing major (for me) that didnt let me continue progressing.

I don't pvp much, I can't give my opinion on cyrodiil, but as per pve content this is the best mmo i played.

People that play this game and say it's horrible astound me. Even if you used to play, quit and hate it, what are you doing on this forum? My point being, why are you playing a game that you hate? Or why would you waste your time and get yourself frustrated over a game that you no longer play? Some of these people are not as bright as they would like everyone to think they are. Sure they may know a lot about game mechanics and maybe even programming, but totally lack common sense!
Am I missing some kind of logic in their argument here?

I see it as kind of like hanging around a Facebook page of an ex, hoping and wishing that they change into what you want them to be, as opposed to what they are.

In any case yes, OP this isn't Skyrim with Co-Op. It will never be that. It's an mmorpg set in the world of Elder Scrolls. Nothing more, nothing less. It has its problems but it's come along leaps and bounds since beta. The world is big and beautiful, I see a healthy population everywhere I go in game, and you don't have to sub to play it.

So jump in and make your own mind up! That's the absolute best way - to form your own opinions.

You will get a variety of opinions on this.

If your deal-breaker was that it wasn't Skyrim Co-Op, it still isn't.

However, it has vastly improved since launch and One Tamriel does make it feel more like a TES game.

I would say, if you own the game, go ahead and patch your client and try it out. I wouldn't bother with buying dlc's until you are certain you like the game and can accept the fact it will never be Skyrim CoOp.

I wouldnt advise any of my friends to start playing ESO.

Cheat Engine is still being used.

People caught using Cheat Engine temporarily suspended then allowed back (Cant name and shame - Z0$ hides behind policy for lack of enforcement).

Gambling crown crates coming which is first step down Pay2Win.

So many broken skills being exploited.

Leader boards being constantly exploited and not addressed.

Z0$ customer support is terrible (Based on my and friends experiences so far)

Every game has flaws dont get me wrong but 3rd party cheating should be account deleted. Having a weak stance on cheating just attracts more to do it.

Z0$ said no crown crates now they coming.

Releasing more and more content on broken foundation instead of addressing and fixing first. Little to no transparency.

Forum moderation is about silencing rather than addressing issues.

Those would be my top points to any new player. Game has potential but being squandered.

if they can get 1T running correctly by the 18th of Oct. on the PC ( NA & EU ) before Consoles go live i'll be surprised.

One Tamriel is probably already at Microsoft and Sony for approval, and given the light first patch, my guess is that One Tamriel will be much the same on console as PC/Mac. Console won't have the EU server selection problem, though.
Hi, I was part of the Closed Beta years back, but left since I didnt feel like paying a sub plus felt like the game was Meh since I wanted Skyrim with Co-Op. Then I came back briefly when they made the sub optional plus Zenimax offered me the Base Game for half Price, but still didnt have Controller Support, "Yeah Ive been a Console gamer since 1989 you'll have to drag me kicking and screaming to use M/KB". Now that the game is three years old, I was wanting to know if its worth giving another chance?

On the plus side, it does have controller support. I can't say how good it is, because I use the keyboard.

On the negative side, this game will never be a Co-Op Skyrim. I am actually not entirely sure what attributes of that you consider to be important.

If you want the world to yourself, with a few friends, ESO will never be that game. There will always be other players around, especially overworld. There will always be some other player picking that flower, or killing that monster, coming along and "helping" you kill a boss, or whatever. That is the nature of MMO, and ESO is an MMO. It is right to be that way.

If you want to be able to group with friends to do quests, dungeons, and just play the game, that has improved a lot since launch and Tamriel Unlimited. It is still not perfect, mainly because such play will always be designed as a subset of a larger MMO, but it is there.

Simple answer is .... yes! if you meet the following criteria.
Are not Aussie aka 290 ping.
    Have some banked money.
Dont mind porting from a keep or dying only to be kicked from group due to a current bug.
Working your ass off to "Play the way you like" only to have it nerfed to the ***. aka DK 1.6 (Yes it was OP as ***) or my fav ranger, vamp slayer build.. god i miss a good bow build that's not the cookie cutter poison builds. (Yes the ranger was OP as *** also) but i worked hard for it. QQ
Or dont mind that every body is running basically the same build on each of the classes.
And that the loot table for the old keys are .... questionable.

Other than that yes its worth coming back too. because you can ....... i'll let others tell ya the good things you can do as i only pvp.

Since you aren't into PvP, I'd say hell yeah its worth. PvE side of the game is pretty damn awesome right now. PvP wouldn't be so bad either if they would just give it some attention. But yes, come back and try it out, you may fall in love you may hate it lol! Only way to know is to test the water.

Every 3 months there is a new major patch implemented in this game. Tamerial One is awesome. It is like a whole new game again and I've played since beta. The new sets are great and the zones are alive. Really feels like an Elder Scrolls MMO. There is a learning curve though and the game does have bugs. I personally have very few problems but some have problems with loading screens and gameplay glitches. I'll take new content though over a perfect piece of software.
