- Don't rush it the first few (dozen) times as you learn it. The people you see rushing the fight and burning him have probably done it 100s of times and can know the fight really well. Take a more slow and steady approach until you can consistently beat all 3 stages of the last boss and then try things to speed it up.
- If you can consistently beat the Crematorial Guards then you have one of the most challenging parts of the fight done. I found it easiest to get as much range before the guard spawns and then Overload them down all while keeping an eye on the boss to roll dodge/interrupt him as needed.
- Use the Sigils! I usually start with Power right away and keep Speed for the third stage but use Defense/Healing as needed, especially if you need to jump down during the second stage.
- There is a sweet spot for DPS in the first stage where you'll get the Guard, Caster and Clannfear attacking you all at once. If this happens you need to do more DPS (to avoid the guard spawn entirely) or less DPS as dealing with the Guard, Caster and Boss at the same time is a little easier.
- Rune Prison can be useful to ignore the Caster, Clannfear, or Summoners for a while. This is most useful if you need to jump down in the second stage. Imprison the Clanfear, kill the Guard, and then kill the Clanfear on a portal.
- Use a Restoration Staff on your back bar and keep Rapid Regen up 100% of the time. Use Shields as needed (I prefer Harness Magicka for the Magicka restore) but having better self-healing than just Surge/Blood Magic is useful as you learn it.
- Practice! This last fight is by far the hardest in vMA to learn at first simply due to its extremely small margin of error...one small mistake will kill you. Once you spend the time to learn the mechanics and how to beat it, however, it will become much easier (I hesitate to say "easy"). After only a dozen completions I find stages 4/5/7 harder than the last boss now.

Thanks for the detailed reply mate, I appreciate it.
What do you mean by doing more DPS will stop the guards spawning?
So you can get past the crystals?
What I do (only done it 8 times so still learning) is when I go down, grab the healing, defensive and power sigil then straight dps him, grabbing the first gold ghost that spawn. Don't chase it, just put yourself between it and the boss. It's usually enough to dps him before a deadroth spawn. If one does. The defensive sigil is still up so a lot of the boss' attacks reflect.
If you haven't already, put surge, shield and streak on you overload bar. So you keep surge up, cab shield easy and streak to the boss to bash. Or come out of overload and Crushing shock him once, back into overload.
Not done it on a magica sorc, but that's how I would run it if so.
If a deadroth is spawning while boss is at 50%, i'd be inclined to say your dps is a bit low. What gear are you running?

What do you mean by doing more DPS will stop the guards spawning?
In the first stage the boss teleports up when he gets to 70% and I believe the Guard spawn is a timed event. So, if you can get the boss to 70% and kill the Clanfear before the Guard spawns you don't have to deal with him at all. The Guard despawns once you kill all 3 crystals and get blown back down.
However, this requires a very high DPS build and I've never managed to even come close to doing it. You might be able to do it by grabbing the Power Sigil and Overloading the boss down but this uses a lot of Ultimate and if (when) you die you won't have enough for a second attempt. Part of what made my attempts with a Mag-Sorc difficult is that I was relying too much on Overload so when I died I had no Ultimate left. Part of that was me learning when, and when not to, use Overload and try to do most of my DPS as normal, including the Guards actually. If you can circle around them closely you seem to take a little less damage from their breath.

So the various mechanics of the second stage are:
- Boss skull attack. Keep an eye on him and dodge roll when you see him wind up. Easy to do once you recognize it.
- Constant AoEs. Keep moving back and forth as you DPS a crystal. Keep DoTs on the crystals (Liquid Lightning).
- Constant DoT damage. You always take damage here that increases over time so keep up your self-healing (Surge, Rapid Regen) and Shields as needed. Its easy to assume that since you rarely take damage you don't need them and then all of a sudden you are under 50% health and its too late.
- Walls and Explosion. The explosion is what is blowing you off of the stage. To avoid this you have to get behind one of the walls that spawns and rotates clockwise around the center. I always move counter-clockwise, opposite the wall's direction as it is much easier to catch them this way than to catch up to them the way they are moving. Each time a wall spawns it moves faster. If you can't destroy all 3 crystals by the time the third wall appears it is much better to just jump down. You'll have to deal with a Guard and Clanfear on the bottom but once you go back up the walls with reset.

Just keep at it! It took me and most people 100s of attempts on the last boss before succeeding. Always try to learn something from your deaths. Why did you die and what could you have done to avoid it? While I was learning the last boss I would try it for an hour or so at a time to avoid my frustration building to hazardous levels.
Your build looks fine btw assuming you have 300 or more CPs to go along with it. You can probably complete it with less but more difficult of course. I went with x2 Molag, x5 Elegant, x3 Willpower which gets a lot more DPS in Overload mode at a slight expense of normal DPS.

I literally cannot get it past 50%, Ive been trying for about 4 hours and I'm making no progress whatsoever.
Ive seen people overload him to 75% to avoid the guards (these are my main issue) I just cannot stay alive while blocking and interrupting the boss. I spam shields throughout the guards, I overload them and get them down, I can't even begin to say how many times I have tried this boss. I have remorphed to crushing shock to interrupt him, still eventually die...
What do I do? I have worked so hard to get here but I cannot see myself doing it any time
soon. Any help or tips?
Thanks
