I use double vma lightening staff. Front one, woe, embers, deep breath, inner light and dampen.
Back one. Eruption, engulfing flame, Talons, chains and molten armaments.
Ulti, standard of might for boss fights, but don't open with it. Use it when you actually need to to go back to full stats.
Meteor for everything else. If you don't have it go and get it. Shooting star does 10% that's an enormous bonus to any enemy hit with engulfing flames. Plus 12 ult for every add you've hit.
Start on back bar with eruption, flames up, switch bars dots on and hold the trigger and cook them. My staff ticks for 10k a pop alone, you'll never run out of magika, deep breath gives a good heal, embers heals you to full if it's on for 2s. Hardened armor makes you tanky as. You're probably spamming your dots too quick. Get a set rotation and you'll be fine. Mine is all dots and 2 heavies and reapply. Never had any issues.
Vampire is also a must-have for Mag DK: 10% extra regen, Undeath, if you're a Dunmer the Fire Weakness isn't that bad and a somewhat cheap Ulti for your Battle Roar
Also the new Soul Assault is worth checking out: 100 Ulti cost and increased Damage

oh never even bothered looking at this skillline, but i remeber it just did damage and slowed which was useless.
what did they change in it now?

Wrobel already said, that there will never ever be an execute for DKs. They want this class to put pressure on enemies with a lot of dots.
There has always been this biased nature towards stamina, I think because its easy to process and develop for then with magicka. Don't know if the next patch will even address it or just frack it up more.
It would be nice to have faith in the combat development team, but they have screwed up time and again and have no real concrete plan on where they see the direction of Magicka DPS in the future.
