AAAGH! That's not what anyone is suggesting they do. They leave the online server online, they don't touch it, it stays as it is. They patch an offline server, then they swap them over. It doesn't matter if the "server" is a single machine or a cluster of thousands of them, the principle is the same. It's literally so simple even a five year old could understand it, and all the "but it's an MMO, therefore MAGIC" comments are just... they make me want to scream.Giles.floydub17_ESO wrote: »Since you work in a data center and understand the "server" is actually a matrix of servers then you would understand it is an increased technical challenge updating the server while it is online.

You are not special. Get over yourself.
Oh, we have a spokesperson for the free world here telling others not only how "all of us" feel, but that as a complaining individual you're not special (which they obviously are by that logic).
Seriously, what you're saying is "we all have to buy that bread although it's moldy; if you don't like it be a baker.". While this may be an evolutionary correct response, this is enterprising and not mother nature, so the correct answer would be "if you don't like it, leave", or, in response "if you don't like my complaints, ignore them, you're not the recipient".
On a side note, what frustration entitled you to insulting other users out of friggin nowhere? "Your whiny OP comes off as entitled demands and sobbing exaggeration." "Keep crying. Won't change anything. Your parents should have taught you that."
Well I know what parents should have taught *you*.

Well there's a simple answer to that: Because they don't answer. This has been asked before, many times. And this, by the way, is the only complaint I have - lack of good communication. This is not how you treat customers, and I guess most of the complaints would just disappear if they would be better here (although admittedly, they got better in the last few months).
Regarding your other comparison - would you agree that there's a difference when I would complain about a service I pay for, and you complaining about other peoples complaints which come absolutely free?

Yeah well this isn't something that isn't avoidable. If I have a customer complaining at the next table, it's unavoidable that I have to listen to his moaning. If I stand in line at the supermarket and someone starts a fight with the cashier, it's unavoidable. If someone starts a thread called "Downtime inexcusable" then I take full responsibility when I click on that and start reading, it's kinda ... avoidable. So I'm not too sure if the discomfort is self-induced to at least 50%

Add "Downtime inexcusable" to the list of over exaggerating entitled threads spreading infectious negativity to and otherwise enjoyable game.

Oh well, we can still dream...

While I somehow agree to the latter, I'm pretty sure Princess Zenimax doesn't need any white knights

This was not to imply anythingjust a joke to calm everyone down.
By the way, because you said so earlier, I did not even complain in this thread; I was actually neutral and only reacted to *your* bad attitude, which is kind of funny because that's what you critizise here.

I pay for the same service, which your complaints possibly alter if you are bringing unnecessary discomfort to the community. Bad attitudes are infectious.
They do AMA's on Reddit. Have you ever asked then? BTW, I would never defend their customer service. It's fairly hallow and runs as a corporate bureaucracy for raking in money. However, you will attract more bee's with sugar than vinegar.
