SOULSHINE SET DOES NOT WORK WITH JABS/PUNCTURING SWEEPS

Hi guys,

the soulshine set does not work with jabs, the tooltip does not change... i have tested it a coplue minutes ago. It changes the tooltip from RD and dark flare but not jabs.
To all magica templars out there, you can stop farming it

I thought, it might be a UI bug, but the damage output is meh...
2 days wasted to farm it lol.

I am sorry guys, but it is unfortunately true.
I thought, finally a good set for templars, but no, after years of eso, still no good set for templars.

I would test the actual damage. The set used to say adds spell damage while channeling, maybe they just worded the tooltip badly and you are getting the spell damage buff, but only while channeling.

Not all channelled attacks are spell damage.

Did you test it with sweeps or jabs?

He did test it.

He states the tooltip doesn't change. Then he says he tested it. What does that mean? The way he has it worded implys that he tested it by checking the tool tip after equipping the set, which is, as we all know, misleading a lot of the time.

What you need to try is actually attacking some mob without the set, preferably with just the last piece replaced with a piece that has the same magic enchant and armor type. This is the only real way to "test" in the game.

Andthen there is the fact he said "jabs" and not sweeps, jabs is the stam version and the damage is based off of the weapon damage and max stam. Personally, I would give him the benefit of the doubt and believe that he misspoke. But all of that casts doubt on the validity of the statement.

update, the OP is right! soulshine doesn't work with jabs.........................as expected.

I tested on live.

It does however work perfectly fine on sweeps, adds about 200 damage per poke in pve unbuffed.

What's the big confusion here? Puncturing jabs is a weapon based stamina skill. Why would people expect it to work on a stamina skill?! Of course it works on puncturing sweeps. That's a magic ability.

you should have already known it wouldnt work, crushing shock doesnt interrupt jabs therefore it is not a channeled attack. Though i do believe thaum effects jabs so if thats true take the freebie and run with it

Is op aware of spell vs weapon damage? anyways I'm still farming this set so i can't say for sure but this i know that puncturing strikes and its morphs are considered as channel abilities.

The tooltip from jesus beam is higher with soulshine, yes it works with jesus beam.

to make it clear, how i tested it.

I had 4 bodyparts and one ring (healthy with magica recovery glyph), so ring does not change the damage, since it does not have magica and no spell damage. So I had first no ring, checked the tooltips, than I equipped the ring and checked the tool tips again.

I am talking here abut puncturing sweeps, the magica version ofc, sry for the confusion. I had 7 heavy (my complete gear: 2 Bloddspawn, 5xsoulshine, 2x Willpower swords, 2xTransmutation and 1x Wiillpower ring.)

I tested my damage on a player, while i was unbuffed = 1.2K crit damage per tic = meh

I tested in on a mob too, it was 5.0K crit damage unbuffed per tic.
With kags insted of soulshine I did 5.1K crit damage per tic.

The bonus not working on sweeps will substantially lessen the value of the set in PvP as well. A ranged caster will usually rely a lot a Reflective Light and that's neither a cast nor a channel, so doesn't get the bonus. And for a close range magplar Sweeps are probably the single most important skill.

That leaves the beam spammers, but those are hopeless with our without Soulshine.

That has nothing to do with it. Jabs is a channeled skill. It's a melee skill and thus not interruptable. But that doesn't make it less of a channel.

if the beam spammers are hopeless then why in Akatosh's name do all the PvPers keep moaning about them and calling for RD to be nerfed into the ground

Because most PvPers are crybabies who will whine endlessly about everyone and everything. On the PC, beam spammers are a non-issue these days. Maybe it's different on the consoles, I wouldn't know.
