So I just died to a hurricane tick that was near on 10k on my stamplar.
I was in the radius for next to no time at all I don't get how an aoe dot can hit that hard when my resistance is 24k in less than 2 seconds

Honestly I'm not sure, but i do know that one time on the recap screen of my death, it showed a 10k flames of oblivion hit.
Not sure if it tallies up the dot ticks of a single skills and shows the total amount that the specific skill did to you upon death over the course of a fight.
But you insist that you did not stand in it at all. Did you escape from a stamp sorcerer in a fight and he caught you out a few moments later after you got back into stealth? Maybe the game hung on to the damage history.0 -

✭✭✭✭✭The initial dot ticks when it's first cast are extremely low. We're talking like 1k BEFORE you take in account resistances and such (the tooltip value). There's absolutely no way you could take 10k damage from Hurricane in 2 seconds, unless it was actually bugged, which wouldn't surprise me0 -

✭We were fighting so my health was up and down like a yo yo. I tried to keep him away with javlyn as I don't wanna be in hurricane radius then when I saw his life drop I crit charged in took a rapid strike and boom dead.death recap showed hurricane as biggest dmg0 -

I have a screenshot of a 40k RD, but that's because I spammed a ward before dying and it added up all that damage.
Edit: and I believe it could be done in 2 secs if true. Example, if at the end of hurricane (the 225% mark if I remember correctly) My tooltip (and with just 19k stam and 3kish wpndmg) says approx 800. If it was 225% that would be 1800 or 900 PvP, add in crits could be 1800. Take 1800 from first tick, 1 sec, 1800, 1 sec 1800. That's 5400 dmg from my little guy. Imagine the 50k stam and 4.5k wpndmg build damage would be nearly double.Edited by Waffennacht on October 5, 2016 9:11PM0 -
Apoxsee✭✭✭Was he using Malestrom weapons? If so, hurricane is considered a DOT and if you took a flurry hit and Hurricane was in its last phase you could of got trucked.0

the boss fight i had last night did the same thing to me. i was seeing my health drain and did not know why, but after a few deaths i realized the actual ring of red glitches and does not allways show untill after it fully loads a few [5 or 7] seconds may have passed before we actually "see" that ring of red death.
it was not like this before the patch, it loaded almost instantly! but this patch might have this as a glitch.Edited by Gilvoth on October 6, 2016 1:26PM0 -
mtwiggz✭✭✭✭✭Resistances don't mean much in the current meta. You can be at full cap and still take ridiculous amounts of damage.
As for 10k Hurricane hits? Not sure. Perhaps implosion is now showing as part of the Hurricane death recap instead of its own tool tip.0 -

✭Implosion shows up as a diferent hit in the death recap. The damage from hurracaine is like caltrops, you see the total damage that you took from the AoE, and not the individual ticks.1
