Are you sure it didn't ask which regions settings, screenshots and addons you wanted kept?

If you clicked EU (if you are EU) you should find your documents folder has a (now empty) liveEU, a Live_Archive and a Live folder. The Live folder should contain all your old LiveEU stuff (including your addons).

Read the Natch potes:

Known Issue: The patcher will still display “The Elder Scrolls Online (NA)” as the main server. However, both NA and EU are accessible by selecting that realm. This will be fixed in a future patch.

Funny thing is... I followed your "instructions" to the letter. Deleted the "Elder scrolls online" folder, renamed the "Elder Scrolls Online EU" folder. Still, it wants 40 GB of download. I cannot actually put into words how mindblown I am at how.... well..... this patch has been handled by Zenimax.

So, I reopen the ZeniMax folder.... I now have TWO folders that are 38.2 GB in size (one called Elder Scrolls Online, the other called Elder Scrolls Online EU), despite me having deleted one of them originally. The launcher still wants to re-download the entire 40GB game, however.

That is really, really strange! I have 3 folders there, "launcher" and "unistall", both small, and "Elder Scrolls Online" - 50,4 gb.

Strange..... is a word that COULD be used to describe a lot of things about how this patch has been implemented. I could think of a few other words that are more accurate, but less family-friendly, however.

This is correct, although note that you would have had to logged into the game within the past 3 weeks for this to work properly.

@ZOS_GinaBruno ... FYI: there wasnt a new ESO folder for me. I ran into an issue, closed the launcher, restarted it... same bug. So did a repair as it was suggested and then it started to redownload the whole game... /sigh

Try running the game/launcher as administrator.

Make sure you have read the patch notes about the false indication of the NA server. Basically, both regions now use the same client and you select the region when you log in but the launcher shows the client as NA even if you have selected EU. It's a display bug and will be fixed.

Well I never got prompted to change between US & EU, my launcher just started downloading the 1.9GB patch and after that it started downloading 40-50GB for (NA).

But when I check my folder Zenimax Online theres only 3 folders.

Launcher
The Elder Scrolls Online
uninstall

Theres no EU or NA folder, I'm playing the European server, so now what?

Didn't work for me because there are no 2 folders. So now I have to waste 20-40gb because zos screwed something up as usual.

I have satellite, I get 20gb data anytime, 20gb 2am-8am this is a major waste for me.

Test this crap better.

Need some tips here.

I downloaded the patch and everything seemed fine. I hit 'Play' in the launcher, and my PC froze up. I had to do a hard reboot.

Now when I run the launcher, the button is 'Install' instead of 'Play'.

If I rename the folder 'Elder Scrolls Online' to 'Elder Scrolls Online EU' and run the launcher again, it prompts be to Repair.

I am very very unwilling to press that button as I simply don't trust it and want to avoid it getting confused and trying to download the entire game again. I see no point in spending hours and hours and bandwidth downloading files I already have when I'm sure the problem is some tiny config, simple thing.

Anyone any suggestions? (I'm EU)

After downloading the patch I made a new acquaintance: Fatal Error 11. Quiet guy, but a bit intrusive. I haven't known him yet, but I'm always open to something new.

So I pushed the repair button - and now the launcher is downloading the whole game again - at slow and steady pace of 2,73 MB/s - no reason to get hasty, is there?

I'm having my dinner now and then I'm going to Enderal...

After the 1.9gb patch it had to download another 6GB after it was finishd I could fire up the game but:
Fatal error 17.... even after restarting my pc, updating AMD drivers.

Check your zenimax online folder, if there is new Elder Scrolls Online folder downloading, delete(or drag it to destkop, so you could put it back in case this wont work) it and rename old one(downloaded and patched) to same name as new one.

No, I didn't have the problem with the second folder. I still have only one folder.

I won't interrupt the download now (as I've already reached the incredible percentage of 34%

) - I'll see if it works after that.

After over three hours I am at only 12%. At this rate I may be able to play the game tomorrow about this time. This is absolutely unacceptable. I would like to have an immediate solution to this problem. The solution stated in first message of this thread DOES NOT WORK. I am NA and only have three folders--Launcher, Elder Scrolls Online, Uninstall. I would think that someone at Zenimax has a solution for the problem.

Thanks for the reply. I ended up just directly using the game exe. I don't trust the patcher enough, the whole patching process is just so flakey.

When I started downloading patch I was prompted (by asistant for programs compatibility) to either install my game again or just accept the game is okay and continue with patch. My choice was to continue patching, since I have no idea why should I install game from scratch if it worked just fine yet in the morning.

I guess this prompt for reinstall could start the download of those 40 gigs, if I just clicked the wrong option.

yes I read the patch notes while my game patched and was aware that it will say (NA) and blah, blah. My answer was mainly to do with what the pop up box actually said and why you were choosing your region.

No! Please, god, no, @ZOS!
I have another REPAIR and not a PLAY button.

I used it twice already, I danced with folder names changes, repaired it once aagain and I have another repair button

I had clean Win+ESO install and I can't play again and again.
