I just logged in for a bit and tried to solo a delve and couldn't. I was using my templar using DW and restoration staff. DW is for the added spell damage with the templar offense skill lines. Yesterday, I could train 8 mobs and kill them all in a few seconds. Now, I have trouble fighting three and it takes a solid minute to drop them. Anyone else notice this?

no offense, but before any and all overland content (Even if many levels higher than yourself) was faceroll easy.

Now mobs are scaled to YOU.

Theres a small chance you maybe went in at low level but some high level cp guy ran though and 'spawned' mobs higher than you yet left them fro you?

If not, and they were intended for you, I really hate to say it, but you should maybe perhaps check your build over and see if it is up to spec (Sounds like your a healer but don't focus much on dps)

I'm afraid that this isn't correct - Overland (and indeed dungeon etc.) mobs will all be set at CP160. Every player - regardless of level - will themselves also be scaled up to CP160.

OP - remember that scaling takes into account your gearing, especially how close it is to your level. What level are you? How many stars are shown on the equipment bonus on your character screen?

If you're lvl 50 with at least 300cp, the game is still pretty easy. But everything now scales to your level, or rather you get bumped up to lvl 50, 160 cp. So yes, if you're used to rolling over out leveled npcs, things just got harder.

Yeah that's the case. I'm more of a healer, but am still level 36. I'm using the battery build that I found online along with some advice from a couple high level members in our guild. I've only been playing the game a month or two, so am not familiar with prior difficulties.

It's probably something to do with One Tamriel - everyone and everything is now scaled up to CP160. There's no longer any option to out-level content.

Take a look at the HP of the NPC/MOBs. I didn't take enuf screenshots to confirm last night, but regardless of your battle leveling, even starter zone NPC have a lot more HP to start and so it is going to take longer to knock them down.

And along with that, just for info, all XP is now locked to character level. You can take a L3 to anywhere in Tamriel and you will receive the same XP from every kill of the same type of NPC (Humanoid, Critter etc). It won't go up until you level that character against all the NPC.

I did notice the stars when I went to my inventory screen. It said "fair", so not good. I'm using a combination of light and heavy armor.

This is likely to be your problem. With the way that scaling works, it looks at how well you're set up and extrapolates that to give CP160 stats.

In general, to make the most out of scaling:
    • Make sure your gear is at, or very close to your level
    • Make sure that all of your gear is enchanted appropriately
    • Try to make sure that you're using sets whose bonuses complement your build
    • Ideally try to use gear of blue quality and above

I'm not sure how familiar you are with the 'typical' build style for ESO - but really you want to be focusing on one stat pool (Magicka/Stamina - perhaps a little in health at lower levels), and using skills from the same pool to maximise your damage output.

If you want any more advice on your set up, then there are a lot of us here who would be happy to lend a hand.

I think they made all the health values more consistent throughout the zones, so there are some things that were really easy before that are harder now... or at least take longer to kill due to the health values being increased.

    Playing since beta...

I'm currently redownloading the entire game (hurray), so I haven't checked yet, but I suspect the overworld mobs have been scaled with around the same health as mobs in wrothgar.
    • Smaller mobs like bandits/zombies/harpies would have around 35k
    • Larger mobs like trolls/lurchers would have around 130k

But your character is also scaled, so your character should be okay as long as your gear is roughly appropriate for your level and build. Probably within 10 level of your character and at least blue quality should let you safely roam solo.

With my low level character - L6, the game seems much easier. Yesterday I was finding it hard to kill one baddie at a time, now can take several at once with little trouble.
The scaling has been improved so that characters below level 10 now receive additional bonuses based on how much lower they are than level 10. This was pretty much necessary in order to allow them to function reasonably in the new scaled zones. I tested the "brand new player" experience (ie. I ran a brand new character with no CPs through the tutorial and all of Khenarthi's Roost using whatever gear dropped for me) as much as I could on PTS, and I thought that they did a pretty damn good job with the scaling and difficulty level for new characters.

That makes sense really due to how they scale a lower level player for higher level content. This, by the way, was how Wrothgar has been working all along.

I found that my level 8 character suddenly had 35k of her money stat - stamina in her case. That's a pretty good figure for top end. The reason you need to buff lower level characters so much is because they don't yet have many class or weapon skills yet.

    An intelligent approach really.

No, that isn't how it works at all.

Everything is now CP160. Everyone below that level is battle-scaled to 160. Nothing is scaled down to character level.

What is the point of lvling anymore if you auto CP 160.

You still need to level a character to collect enough skill points and Character Points to complete higher levels with enough skills/weapons/armor.

And now, you will always receive 100% XP of the NPC you kill, no matter location, scaled to your Character Level
