40 gb update

after client updated he started to download 40 gb. in that time other people say that it was 2gb for them. what is going on?

I'm pretty sure that is applying, not downloading.

it means you did something and it just started to download the whole game again, I guess.

After the 2 gig download it applies the patch to your 40gig game files

Mine's doing it now and it definitely says 'applying', having done the 2gb download.

It really was 40GB guys, but at first it applies for 2gb before it goes into downloading the 40GB. You will know when the download speed goes up that it's applying the actual 40GB patch.

Never mind Gina I found it in the patch notes .

"The size for this update is approximately 2.3GB"

I just let the launcher do it's thing......

Well after the heart attack caused by the "NA" thing.

I had a very small download and over 40GB of applying but this took very little time.

Reading the issues everyone is having I checked my game files and interestingly it is now just named "live" whereas before it was named "liveeu" and I definitely only have one installation.

Let's hope this is what it should have done and I'm not back here later screaming "Wtf have you done ZOS!!"

People need to learn to read.

Applying update does not mean "full download size".

I think its an issue where it worded it as 40,000 MB because it did some check of the entire file system of the game, but only updated the necessary files... just my guess though as 40GB would be about the size of the entire game.

its explained in the patch notes the na is just live server but the coders at eso couldnt work out how to change it im guessing same as they couldnt get the server status light to work ( i would hate to look at the code for this game i bet its a right freakign state)

The updates 2.3GB . Let's not panick . This must have been a visual not understood by the op as it was applying to the main game files .

I hate the whole applying patch thing, always takes longer than the actual download.

I actually downgraded my PC from a P61 full-ATX motherboard with SATA III to a H61 mini-ITX motherboard with only SATAII so I'm dreading how long it's going to take with the reduced SATA bandwidth.

No, it was actually saying "downloading" for many people... however it wasn't actually downloading that much data, I think either it was a technical error on the patcher showing incorrect data, or it was checking the entire games file system to update as necessary as that would be 40GB or more.
