writs are the most unrewarding part of the game imo. haven't really checked into the numbers but pretty sure you lose money on some of them. unfortunate cause i love crafting and doing writs too. crafting definitely needs love.

I'm all for a better variety of provisioning writs. Making the same two recipes over & over becomes a big of a drag.

Consumable writs are a clear win by a large margin, especially alchemy - get a survey almost every day on each char and each contains 2-3 columbine & lady smock nodes, costing only 3 nirnroot and 1/4 of the materials for crafting a basic potion. Top tier gear writs are a loss only from the base material balance, but they reward gold tempers quite often so it evens out from a financial standpoint. Penultimate tier gear writs are pretty sustainable because now the dungeon trash gear comes in mixed CP140 & CP150-160, and deconstructing it actually provides enough CP90-140 materials to make up for the writs loss on a daily basis, since items provide multiple base mats for the former, as opposed to the latter that provides only 1. So on the long term is more profitable to keep them at that tier on alts that are not main crafters, since the special rewards like gold tempers are not much less common than the top tier writs.

Not really, over the long term it tends to average out. I get about one gold temper and one glass motif fragment per character per day, rarely , on average ~40% chance for each of the equipment writs. I've amassed ~165 glass motif fragments up till now, doing tier 9/10 writs on one character daily over about 8 months (did them at lower tiers for 4 month before that and the drop rate was noticeably lower). I have also amassed about one stack of each of the 3 gold tempers, but spent a few dozen upgrading my gear on my main char (he's tank so I've spent more tempering alloys), and I also can't remember exactly how much I did get from the writs, how much from the hirelings and how much from refining from those.

You say it's a joke, but you're a year late.

Anyone who's been to Wrothgar knows that you can run around just about anywhere and not aggro any mobs - particularly around survey locations.

Now Craglorn, when surveys first started, was a different matter. There's the clothing writ which is almost impossible to sneak your way to without getting in a fight (I chose the wasps, Upper Craglorn wasps are nothing compared to Lower Craglorn wasps...).

But most of all there's the runestone survey that used to be right next to a wasp nest. As people have mentioned, that was a nightmare - take help or go on your own, but make sure your ult is fully charged!

It was a challenge, but because of posts like this they took the wasps away :(
