Does anyone know if spell damage increases your staff skills damage?

    Yes, it absolutely does.

Long ago it was illogically affected by weapon damage. Now it scales from magicka, spell damage and spell critical. Also, your CP allocation will affect it, but most particularly Elemental Expert.

I think at long last pretty much everything that does magic or elemental (fire/frost/lightning) damage is affected by the above stats, and everything that does physical/disease/poison damage is now always affected by weapon damage, weapon critical, stamina and the CP Mighty.

As a rule of thumb everything that consumes magicka scales on maximum magicka and spell damage, everything that consumes stamina scales on maximum stamina and weapon damage; some skills don't scale at all, but grant a fixed buff/debuff for a length of time. This applies to class, weapon, guild and alliance war skills.

Something to mention though, while it does scale on spell power, destruction staves have pretty bad spell damage scaling. You could say that:

    - Light and heavy attacks from destruction staves scale stronger on spell damage than anything else in the game
    - Magicka class abilities scale good on spell damage
    - Destruction staff abilities scale worse on spell damage than anything else in the game

Well that's very true, a knock back is nice but other than that if you have a class skill, using that instead of a Destruction Staff still is a much better idea.

BUT, Destruction Staff light and heavy attacks are very strong.
