I'm too afraid to do dungeons

I am familiar with the fear and insecurity. With what I've done to my toon, I'm not really sure groups would want me. Went for a stamina DK with a simple rotation even a 2-yr old could learn it. I like it the way it is, but I often feel that my ability bars are not complicated enough and therefore "I'm not good enough" and we'd all die in a fiery death and the ghosts of my lost mates will haunt me as I run around tamriel, gathering Jutes and stuff. Maybe it's just a misconception, perhaps the ESO community is as nice as they say... or I'm just truly an idiot who doesn't know how to play her class xD

@SilentRaven1972 If you need a trading guild that does a lot of PVE stuff, let me know! The guild I'm in is full of friendly people, and most of us run dungeons and trials all the time ^_^ I can help show you the ropes on how the dungeons work and whatnot. The guild also only has an inactive policy and the main rule of not being a jerk.

@WuffyCerulei Are you on NA or EU? I'm on NA. Also something of the quiet type :) I type slow, and don't get along well with most voice chat programs (normally use skype) because most prefer PTT, but that is an extra key press that can distract me. My fingers get lost easy on the keyboard LOL

I understand the fear. Was there myself at one time. I hate letting people down when it's a group effort. I found with practice with good people it gets easier and is fun. Best thing to do (as many have said) is find a friendly guild. They're out there. One I use is "Friendly Dungeon Runners" on NA server.

My biggest peeve is getting folks who want to speed run the dungeons. Sucks when they do that. I like to see and experience the event not speed run through it like my life depends on it.

    Good luck.

Well, anyone that's on EU server can give me a whisper or send a mail if I'm offline to try some dungeons, I've done them all and got most achievements, I'll give you a fun go and explain a thing or two so you'll feel a bit more confident.

    @MalakithAlamahdi

If not, just try in zone, don't say your new. The huge majority of people won't care about it anyway.

Queued for random dungeon, found a group, ported to dungeon, instant group disband and cooldown -.- .
As of now, I have more dungeons with disbanded groups before they even started, than dungeons I could actually play.

Because implementing a cooldown only after defeating the first boss or only punishing the one player who disbanded/ left prematurely is too difficult for someone like ZOS.

But hey... buy more lootcrates @_@ ....

It may be a necro, but still very applicable. I'm scared to death to do dungeons due to stories of poor behavior, speed runners, and my own anxiety. Don't belong to any guilds (other than my own..extra space :) ) Most guilds recruiting are looking for high CP or massive experience :(

I understand this; it's like meeting people for the first time. Going to a party with a friend where you don't know anyone but you're thinking everyone will be cool. When you get there, it's just not your type of crowd and maybe some people are rude and/or annoying. What do you do?

I would politely leave and make a note not to associate with these people again.

When I started running dungeons, I had some problems with people. I died once and no one in the group would rez me and then they kicked me with the fight was over. And I get it: I wasn't very good and maybe I was holding them back. Or maybe it made them feel good, you know, as players to kick someone (hey, look at me, I'm sooo good I kicked someone from my group). No problem, don't want to associate with them anyway.

For the first few dungeons I ran, I specifically told the group leader that I didn't have much experience. Sometimes they were running for speed and would decline my offer, usually politely. Most of the time, they were okay with it - and often would give me tips I found very useful in getting better.

Eventually I "got gud" enough that I understood mechanics and basic skill strategies. Of course, everyone has an opinion and some people are more aggressive and annoying about insisting their's is right. I've had more annoyances running dungeons in the last couple of months, not sure why. There seems to be a new class of player who insists upon showing how much they know about the game by criticizing others in the group (sometimes me, sometimes others, it doesn't matter ... it always annoys me ... it's a game, get over yourself).

Mostly though, I run with people I know who just want to have fun and do a nice run. We often stop and explain tactis and mechanics to newbies - even for ten minutes or more. We pause to answer questions and just be nice. We let people spend their out-of-game insecuries and rage on someone else.

I know it may not seem like there's not a lot of nice people in the game, but I promise you there is. Really. Sometimes you just have to find them.

Group up with regular Guildies is what ultimately makes the game for me. Without that, I wouldn't be playing at all after running through the initial story line the first time. Only way I found amazing players to compete in dungeons weekly is getting into a group and seeing who are awesome individuals and who I would rather forget. Cannot find the ones worthy without risking disappointment.

My PVP and PVE guilds (PS4 NA) regularly take new players into dungeons and Trials to see first hand what it is all about, in a calm fun manner. That's how I got my start, now doing the same for others.

I've been playing since the game went B2P. From what I've seen in various zone chats, there's no way I'd attempt trying to find a group or responding to others looking. There always seems to be conditions..speed run, must have cp-highnumberhere, etc. For guilds it seems to be similar. They are either PVP, RP, or only accept players over a certain cp level. Granted, I'm somewhere in the 300's as far as cp on my main account, but the majority of my experience is with PVE, and much of that with my brother. His current job doesn't allow him time to play, so I've mostly been wandering aimlessly. Tried getting others to play, even bought the game for them, but that never seems to work out. For an MMO, sometimes ESO is a lonely place. The nixad became my favorite pet because of it's cheerful and comical sounds, making it not quite so lonely :)

We run dungeons with all types, from min/maxers, pvp folks, casuals, etc. And run with one rule: Don't be a ****. When we run dungeons we understand most don't want to change their build to the current meta, to read through all the tutorials, and get yelled at for not doing 40k damage single target dps on theur very first run. We're here for fun and with working with others, not to push you into progression or meta. If you want help with builds or something we're open to ask however.

So if you're having issues with a dungeon run come and contact us in game and we'll see what we can do to help you. The worst thing that can happen is we wipe a bunch of times and we need to disband if we take too long. Sometimes things can be frustrating, but no need take it out or take abuse while you're playing a game for fun =3

depends on your cp, if you are low you'll probably get kicked, which sucks but happens a lot.

Otherwise you should be fine as long as you don't do the very hard dungeons(CoA, ICP,WGT,ROM,CoS) the rest should be fine unless the whole party is bad not just you

I've been working on leveling a healer (Valentine Stower, Breton Templar) and I've been adventuring with my spouse's CP300+ character (Cai'ra Fae Caemaire, Altmer Templer/Paladin). Once Valentine got to about 20 or so, we started doing random non-vets for the XP boost (and I got gypped out of it about 1/2 the time, but that's another story). Anyway, we met a lot of folks of lowbie level, tens and so on. And they were cool people and it was fun to meet them and talk about what was going on, and offer stuff.

    Communication is the key. Always.

I hate speed runs, and as healer, have been known NOT to run to catch up with speed-freak spaz players.

If they are so great, they don't need me.

I disagree. Being a DPS in a dungeon is quite stressful considering the fact that when things don't go as plan, and when the boss don't die in a certain amount of time frame that you're easily to blame for being “too weak”. I've allowed these kind of players doubt my skill and strength up until now.

Some players can be quite nasty at times.

Yes, agree that some people in game can take it far too seriously. Was in a group of 4 and one person keep ranting all the way through. The other three of us became increasingly amused by how angry he was getting. He quit half way through. Probably to save his blood pressure :)

True, DPS isn't super easy, however, in my opinion, compared with Tanking and Healing there is far less pressure on your role. If you don't heal properly then the group can keep dying easily. If you don't tank properly then the group can die easily. However, for DPS as there are two of you it gives more room for you to learn what you are doing. There can be more scope of others to 'carry you' as you get the hang of things. In Vet mode (which I still have not done, despite owning the game since release on PC!!) everyone needs to be at the top of their game. In low level normal dungeons the need to do as much damage is much lower. It is good going in with a group when no one has done it before. You all get to learn together. If you die because you stand in the red too much then you should (one would hope) learn after a couple of deaths that standing in red is a bad thing to do.

I've found that healing is the most stressful thing in the game. A healer has to watch everyone's bar. It is a difficult job and often thankless. I have a great group that I run with and part of it is because we have a superb healer. When you have a great healer, you don't worry as a DPS and you don't worry at all as a tank.

I was really wary of doing healing. Early on (like 3 months after PC release) I did some healing as a Sorc with resto on my back bar, and it was usually "good enough" for most things.

This is the first "formal healer" I've ever run; and like you I have had the honor of having in-game a scarily awesome healer (my spouses Breton Templar Healer; Fianna Kingsley). He has been running her literally for YEARS and has explored everything from blood font to ... well... everything and it always changes with patches and updates.

So this is new to me. I still have some trouble with bar swapping (I try to make them as visually different - ability wise and design/motif of resto-staff wise as possible), and I still can get a bad case of "hair on fire" in difficult dungeons, but I'm getting better.

I do note that it goes better with audio - when with our "usual" group on Skype the healer can yell to stragglers to get their little parts back closer. Much harder to do with only zone or group chat which requires typing.

Hi all, I'm the same way. Hubby and I have always played the tank/healer combo in MMOs and it feels great to be part of a team. When he stopped playing ESO in favor of SWTOR (sighs...liked the game but just can't get into the sci-fi universe in any game sadly enough), I was alone in Tamriel. I mostly soloed and didn't do a single dungeon. Then realized that I was missing out on a fun part of the game.

I forced myself to peruse these boards and found a group of friendly folks (Friendly Dungeon Runners) who took me and I started my dungeon running again as a healer which I enjoy doing. I've only done two vet dungeons since my confidence is still a bit low. I'm starting to get there though and my undaunted rank is slowly improving! I'm a CP540 person but still feel very unconfident in groups. I am first to say that I'm not experienced in groups and most folks, in guild and surprisingly in PUGs have been pretty good. I go into the place where they give the undaunted quests and start setting up groups for silver pledges---healer and three DPS, no problem. In all my groups in normal of course, we've blazed through the dungeons and have had fun. I'm forcing myself to be more outgoing and socialize a bit more. Now I'm thoroughly addicted to ESO again.

I would love to try some of the harder vet dungeons. The normals are a breeze at this point and I feel a bit better about myself as a player. If anyone is looking for a healer buddy, send me a tell at my forum user name. I do want to improve and it would be great to find similar players out there. There are plenty of nice guilds out there. If you are looking to do dungeons for the first time and want to enjoy the story without any "gogogo" pressure, send me a tell. I'm on PC NA. Always happy to meet other nice folks. And happily enough, my spouse is returning to experience One Tamriel so we will again be a healer/tank duo!

There is really no minimum cp for dungeons, it helps but not entirely needed. Probably the newer ones might need a bit more cp but keep in mind that before all these champion points, vet dungeons could be done even by someone just hitting 50 (provided the gear is kicked up a notch to blue which is entirely doable).

It stands to reason why people want higher cp since it makes the job easier but really if you know the class and know your roles well, then there shouldn't be a problem. I've been pugging my healer all these while and he had 120cp, done the vets easily too.

If you ever come to pc na, then there is this guild that I would love to recommend. Was in this guild but I had issues in irl so didn't manage to clock the hours they need to keep me in the guild. It's Lone Wolf Help and they are a bunch of really awesome people.

I have my own guild as well but it's not really active. However I would love some new blood who wouldn't mind a super casual group to run with.

I light attacked, spamnado'd and hurricaned my way to cp 550 but still cant complete the newest 4 vet dungeons. Then it clicked... Skill rotation, skill rotation, skill rotation!

I'm only just starting to become confident now with it. Finally starting to improve on skill rotation ans diversity and now I can get vCoA deathless runs and practically solo DPS the fire maw.

I practiced skill rotation in normal mode trials with my guild and good grief did it improve my play! But perhaps playing in an area or instance that you cant blitz by spamming the same ability over and over will help teach you some better or more effective rotations. It sure as hell helped me

Trust me, there are lotsa great guys out there. We did vCoS no death unscaled run with 147 CP guy, who never did the dungeon before. Even though he was inexperienced, he was greatly willing to learn. This often makes the difference. Unless, people are in a real hurry and dungeon is really hard, if you are willing learn, then people would help you out. There are some judgemental d-bags, who always want their perfect team but majority of players are great. The only problem arises if you are inexperienced and also unwilling to take advice and learn from the others. Otherwise it's all good.

    I'm a sorcerer. I don't do any dungeon too.

    The reasons are:
    1. No one wants a sorcerer.
    2. I don't like to beg someone.
    3. (The most important reason) I don't have time to understand the stories with those dungeon. I don't know what I'm killing or doing. XD
I'm not native speaker in English. I hope that I don't make you misunderstand.

My only character is a templar healer and when I did my first dungeon I was absolutely kakking it as had no idea how to play my char in a group environment, and play style is so different from other mmo's i played previously. I ended up watching videos online of dungeons and reading boss mechanics for every dungeon before i selected to the specific dungeon.

You just gotta get on with it and do it, expect to die, count on being kicked or group disbanded, count on ppl doing speed runs and pulling 4 packs at a time as it will all happen eventually, so be prepared and dont think too much on it as it has happened to every single one of us.
