I could say the exact same thing about PvE. Why run a dungeon or trial when monsters just respawn?

What's the point of this post, really? Why do ppl PvP? Ppl PvP because its fun, exciting, enjoyable, non repetative like PvE. If you dont enjoy the content, you simply dont do it. No need to make treads like " OMG I dont like PvP in this game, so how can anyone else like it. C'mon lets all hate PvP", just dont do it if you dont like it.

The point for me is I enjoy doing it.

I enjoy big battles over keeps
I enjoy running from one keep to the other, capturing them and defending them
I enjoy riding across the map in a big group doing these things

There doesnt have to be more than that

So that we can play versus other players. You know, player versus player? That's all the pont really needs to be.

If that's the case how about you pick up a chess board and play some old people in the park.

That's better PVP than this anyways, at least you don't need to buy a new CPU just to play the damn thing.

Cause I'd rather play ESO than chess. If you're more into chess than ESO, that's cool; I'm just not.

The point for me always was the goal to paint the map red.
Since I'm pretty alone with this on PC EU, I left PvP and let the AP farmers waiting for their Def tics rot at chalman mine....

There really should be an incentive to reward objective gaming over gate camping. I'm not talking about more AP, since that currency is useless.

I like coming home from a hards day of work and relieving stress by killing elitist abnoxious other players in a virtual world. I like grouping with my guild and wrecking *** who brag about how good they are and then send rage tells when they die. This is fun for me.

It's an escape from reality where I can feel a sense of accomplishment in an esport fashion and compete with other people. I keep pushing my skills and constantly think of ways to improve my build to combat the meta. If your good, people begin to recognize who you are and the more mature players respect you and others fear you.

You are correct. There are a lot of problems in pvp and I suspect when another game comes along with a better combat system there will be a mass exodus. Right now, eso has the best combat system since age of Conan. Even with all the problems the combat system is awesome.

Personally, I don't PVP (I suck and it gives me anxiety), but even I can see a point to it. People that enjoy it like a challenge. To challenge themselves to become better, to understand how their character/class mechanics will do against others, to learn and adapt. Even with the system as broken as it is, they search for ways to make it work, and even if they get their butt handed to them, they learned something...What may and may not work for their class/play style. Still, it all boils down to personal challenge. The top PVPers (that don't use unintended mechanics) got there because they learned and are good at what they do.

The point of pvp in ESO is to teabag dead people (whether you killed them or not) and respond to their hate tells with "your complaint has been noted and is important to me" and use that response over and over while they get angrier and angrier until their head pops like a zit of fury.

Unless you totally zerg someone down, then your response to their hate tell should be "good duel back there".

Is there ever a point to war?

It would be easy to walk away from this conflict, spend my days roaming the world, living off the land far from Cyrodil. But I have many reasons to fight.

I fight for the people of Cropsford, Vlastarus and Bruma, that they might be free of the yoke of oppression.

I fight for my friend Razum-dar and for my liege Queen Aryenne.

I fight for my homies in the Graht Hood.

I fight for the bond of brotherhood that is forged when you storm a breach with your allies, knowing that your cause is just and this may be your last day on Nirn.

That point of PVP, just like the point of PVE and video games in general, is to have fun. Different people have fun in different ways. Some people find it fun to gain AP and get nice rewards. Some people find it fun to try to take on multiple enemies by themselves. Some people find it fun to form a group and try to take out other groups, siege keeps, push the map, etc.. Some people find it fun to just run around in Cyrodiil without any particular goal and mind and see what kind of exciting experiences they encounter. Just because you've drastically oversimplified and generalized what PVP in this game entails, doesn't mean that's truly all there is too it.

For me PVP is like playing a sport and PVE is watching a movie. I enjoy both but whilst I can play the same sport a 1000 times there's no way I could sit through the same movie that many times.

So unless ZOS can release 10 hours + of new story content a week I'll continue to play mostly PVP.

PVP in any game is often as it's said. PVP. Player versus player. Now, in a game like ESO PVP is there as a means of alliance against alliance (or supposed to be). But in the end, AP farming is what truly matters. As well as emperorship trading. So what purpose does it serve in this game?

this is where you are wrong. the only people that care about emperorship and PVP titles are sweaty nerds with no life. noone cares about the guy with the most points, its the good players that get discussed, there are people on xbox that will never get emp or grand overlord but they are known because they will 1vX the *** out of your scrub PVE group.

I always enjoyed PvP for the stories I tell later with buddies who do the same. I don't care if my alliance wins, I don't care about becoming emperor. I just wanna smack some straw berries and bananas around, and get minced 90% of the time doing so.

Some people like PVP, others like PVE, some like both - it is just another component of the game that some people will play and others won't. Just because one person does not see the point of something doesn't mean it shouldn't exist.

I actually have a reason to do PVP at the moment as I am leveling up my Assault and Support skill lines on all of my characters. Once I got over the stress of getting killed all the time (and got my horse speed maxed out) I find that it can be enjoyable when I am in the mood for it.

Live and let live - anyone who doesn't like PVP should stay away from it and let those who do like it enjoy it. Same goes for PVE - if you don't like it, leave it for this who do. No need to question why they exist.
