Console to console account transfers

I realise when this game first came out on console, PC users were able to transfer their purchased items over from one platform to another and I'm wondering why this option has never been available for console users? Any items bought were done so via crowns, not LIVE or PSN credit, so it's not even a case of the items being bought on different currency ecosystems.

I'm also assuming we all have a purchase history attached to our forum accounts because it's the very same account we use on whichever system(s) we play ESO on.

They did it so players who didn't want to wait for console release did have to and would get to keep their progress after transferring.

They have made it very clear that they have no current plans for any further cross-platform account transfers. The original transfer was a very restricted arrangement in totally different circumstances to those that apply now and was purely for the benefit of those who had bought the PC version while they waited for the console version to be launched, it being considered unfair that they should lose the progress they had made due to a delay that was not of their making.

This was done because they waited literally until less than 45 days before release to say that the game was delayed for consoles for an undefined time....it almost was a year later

This had to be authorized by each console so its not something ZOS can do all by themselves.
This also was a unique offering because normally PC games that come to consoles later (for xbox one at least) require you to start over.

PS4 may differ so that's really a Sony question and not a ZOS question for this opportunity. If Sony says yes, then it becomes a ZOS ask.

That transfer was a one time thing for people who started playing the game during the first couple months so their interested in consoles could still play in the mean time.

They has specific requirements in place and made it clear they would not offer the transfer again.

It's served a purpose and that purpose has long passed.

Zenimax has total say over what goes on with the PC version. Consoles on the other hand require the go ahead from Sony and Microsoft. Sony and Microsoft do not want to lose players, especially to each other, so there is no way they'd allow console account transfers. Same goes for transferring back to PC.

What? Sony and MS have no control over what's on the ZOS servers.

    This will never happen though

Actually they can say what goes on there and what doesn't, because they own all rights to what goes on their consoles and what doesn't (including updates and DLCs), hence Zenimax having to get approval from them for patches. Of course they still slip things by from time to time but still...

Nevertheless, account transferring is basically a player's way of saying goodbye to one platform and hello to another, which Sony/Microsoft can deem losing consumers.

You're not alone there lol but sadly that is also something Sony and Microsoft must approve first.

Still doesn't make sense @UltimaJoe777. Only crowns and the digital games are purchased on the LIVE and PSN marketplaces. The crown store is self contained. Fair enough not being able to transfer say, the adventure pack over as that is included in the digital marketplace version or at least on LIVE it is. I think this was also the case with the PC to console transfer, certain things weren't transferable for the reasons you have given. Stuff like mounts, motifs etc are self contained items. MS and Sony won't get a cut on those items, only the crowns themselves.

ZoS could give every mount away for free and it wouldn't affect either Sony or MS.

Every time we buy crowns over PSN/XBN (or whatever Xbox's is called) Sony and Microsoft get a cut. Beyond that, we require subscription (PSPlus/XBGold?) to play ESO on console. Basically us simply playing means Sony and Microsoft make money. They do not want to lose that.
