Out of curiosity, is there any particular reason why we can't share the following things with ourselves account-wise? Or rather from character to character?
- Undaunted keys
- Alliance points
- Mount improvements/upgrades
- DLC quest progression
- Etc.
This one is mostly a holdover from when vet ranks were still in the game, but it still has some validity. Undaunted keys give you gear at the level of the character opening the chest. When vet ranks were still around, if you had 1 VR16 character and 7 VR1 characters, you could potentially get 8 gold keys per day. If you had been able to share those keys with other characters, then you could use them all on the VR16 to get max-level gear, which wasn't intended (you were supposed to get gear of the level of the character who got the key). With vet ranks gone, this issue has mostly gone away, but not entirely as you can still get bronze and silver keys on level 45 characters. Of course, all that you do is hang on to them until that character hits level 50 and then use them, at which point it doesn't matter anymore. So there is a reason for it, but that reason is no longer nearly as valid as it once was.Out of curiosity, is there any particular reason why we can't share the following things with ourselves account-wise? This is because you can have characters of different alliances, and it's not intended that you gain (for example) a ton of AP on a DC character and then go and spend it all on an AD character to equip that character to go out and fight against DC. I'm not sure how much of a difference this really makes though. I guess the biggest thing it really affects now is that you couldn't gain a ton of AP on a DC character and then use it to go and buy a ton of AD style mats.- Alliance points
Well it's supposed to be the individual character's riding skill (and it used to be the individual mount's ability), so logically it doesn't make a lot of sense to have it shared. Having said that, the current system of upgrading is a bit of a holdover to the subscription-only days. Back then it made sense from a business standpoint to force someone to log in every day if they wanted to do their upgrades. With the switch to B2P it's no longer really needed. I don't expect that they would make a major change to this which would cut into crown store sales of riding lessons, but they could change it so that you can queue up riding lessons in advance by paying a lump sum of gold. Still make it take the same amount of time and be per character (because doing otherwise would gut crown store sales), but allow you to purchase all 60 of a category at the same time (and then 1 will be automatically applied each day until they're all used up) so you don't have to log in to that character every day just to talk to the stablemaster.- Mount improvements/upgrades
What possible reason would there be for any quest progression to be shared across characters? They're different characters doing different things. In many ways this would be detrimental to players anyway, as you'd be losing out on a good source of XP for champion points, as well as losing out on gold and quest rewards (which are just vendor trash today, but will include a lot of set pieces when One Tamriel drops). This would also remove the ability of a player to experience different dialogue and quest options.- DLC quest progression
Etc. isn't shared across characters because... Um, wait a minute...- Etc.

The reason they changed it from being per mount (although it wasn't account-wide, it was per mount for each individual character) to being per character is because of the introduction of the crown store. If progression was tied to a mount, nobody would ever buy new mounts in the crown store no matter how much they liked them because they'd have to start from scratch on improving that new mount. Well, OK, some people would still buy them, but very very few compared to how many people buy them under the current system.- Mount improvements/upgrades
I think the mount system is all down to money and creating more sales of mount upgrade tokens, personally I think mount upgrades should be locked to per MOUNT and it be account wide.

- Undaunted keys: Unknown. Agreed that makes no sense, as they're just items.
- AP: You can't transfer one person's prowess in battle to another person. Thus, you can't exchange AP.
- Mount upgrades: They are considered "Riding Skills" of your character. You can't give another person your skill at riding.
- DLC quest progression: It would make no sense for a new character to have all quests completed just because another character has done it.
Applying real life logic to a world with internal logic... logical.Applying real life logic to a complete fantasy.. Interesting- Undaunted keys: Unknown. Agreed that makes no sense, as they're just items.

Let's also add SKYSHARDS to that list. If anything needs to be added to the account wide section it's hands down skyshards.
