JEWELCRAFTING
Like the name suggests, this profession allows players to create beautiful jewelry within ESO. As with other crafting professions, it is necessary to extract raw materials into craftable ingredients. Gemstones are required and are extracted from ore. Ten ore of the same type are consumed per prospecting attempt in an attempt to extract 1-5 gemstones. This will destroy the ore in the process. The Prospecting passive will improve your chance of extracting gemstones. You will also require precious metal (copper, silver, gold, and platinum) to construct the base item, such as: crowns, rings, and necklaces. There are seven levels of gemstone quality, namely Normal, Fine, Flawless, Perfect, Radiant, Illustrious, and Exquisite. Gemstones bought from vendors will always be of Normal quality. Quality can be increased with polishing. Polishing is synonymous with Tempers from Blacksmithing. The Polishing Expertise passive will increase your chance of improving items with polishing. Gemstone Cuts are synonymous with Traits, whereby adding special properties to the crafted item. Players will learn Gemstone Cuts via Jewelcrafting Recipes, which can be found throughout the world of Tamriel (highest level recipes will be dropped from bosses). There is a wide assortment of recipes and have various levels of rarity, namely Fine, Rare, Epic, and Legendary. The Jeweler Design passive will allow the use of said recipes. Here is a possible layout...

Craft:
Jewelcrafting Station (consists of a grinding wheel, calipers, chisels, and hammers)

Base Item (equipment slot):
Crown (head)
Ring (finger)
Necklace (neck)

Example of a beautiful crown;

Does anyone want Jewelcrafting besides me?

I don't see a need for Monster XP bonus and can't see them adding that myself. The rest would work.

You'll find a lot of others won't comment because your adding to the idea for content. A lot sadly only come here to moan :/

Will this tie in to the trait gems we already have? It looks like jewelcrafting is using ruby, diamond, etc etc, we already have those in game for trait gems.

Well at the moment we don't know. One would assume it'll use the gems we can currently find rather than add a whole new node. Though that being said the ability to find gems outside of decon would be nice.

I wish we could actually see the jewelry we're wearing, like in Skyrim.

But anyways, I would love to be able to craft it.

A good idea, just a few things that are going to contradict or go off base with the other professions. You are going to have to remember that Jewelry-crafting is probably going to be broken up in two subsections possibly or maybe just one initially, hard to tell at this time.

You are going to have one section for making the necklace/ring and one for socketing gemstones if they decide to go that route which is unknown at this time. So assuming that there will be no socketing as of yet. There would be no cuts at this time and will be more inline with blacksmithing and simply be ingots and existing traits (or they may add new traits/gems).

So either they will use existing items or they will create new ore nodes and trait gems. Now if they add socketing and making of gems, then they will most likely use existing items for making the jewelry and new items for making socket-able gemstones with cuts being the traits. There is many ways for them to do this so time will only tell.

Yeah, I'm not sure what route they would take, but hope they add socketing and making of gems for jewelry.

I'm not sure if it would be better to have it a standalone profession or include with Enchanting? Does anyone have any thoughts?

I didn't read the recommendations, but I am 100% for Jewelry Crafting, however they do it. I want to make ALL my stuffs as I see fit, within the parameters of available special crafting stations.

Jewelcrafting will be cool to have, but not sure if I go with all the details that the OP has made. It is seems overly done and could be made more simple. I just want to make blank rings and necklaces for enchanting.

I will be happy if it just a sub craft of the Enchanting one.

These were just some ideas I put down on paper. Not sure how they would do it.

currently jewlery has 3 traits hp/sta/mag. which is fine. since jewlery glyphs are where the good bonus's are. the only thing we need is to be able to make set jewlery.

Since all dungeon and overworld set will have jewelry and weapons option I believe we should also have those options for the crafted sets
