ZOS admins, what is the reason you close old treads when replying to them??? They are still actual!!

I do not get this ZOS admins, why you are doing this. Closing old treads when people comment them now, for some weird reason "not supporting Draugr treads blabla......."... :(

It has happened few weeks ago - it was an old tread about What people love on this game, someone commented on it, admin closed it for this "Draugr tread blabla" non-sense....
Like why that ZOS??? Do you want us to do a repost new tread or what is the point in this non-sense?? And what about the missing info from that old tread, that will not be availiable when someone would do a repost tread!!!

Yesterday it happened to me again, a tread about a good discussion about a comparison of the 5 pc bonus of Magnus set vs Seducer set, the info in that tread was in no way outdated, I have commented there, asked a valid question (not a non-sense as some immature kids there replied, may they feel better!!) and the admin closed it because of "Draugr tread blabla...."

Like seriously WTH ZOS????

Rather than letting a discussion continue in a thread which is considered "dead" because of it's contents, they want you to start a new one to ensure that any discussion therein is relevant and actual.

Fort instance, the specific thread you mention (Magnus vs Seducer) contains calculations on spell cost reduction which is seriously outdated.

Because it makes it easier to use the forums search feature where there's 500 threads on the same subject.. naturally

well yes, but there was also info, which was not outdated, like for example that about people testing it with sorcs....

so starting a new tread is much worse in my opinion, than continuing a discussion in an old (partialy outdated) tread

Our opinions on this is irrelevant :) the forum rules states that we should not do it, so better just to not do it :)

I imagine it's a hard one to judge. Usually ones about abilities and bugs would get locked if necroed, as they are likely to be outdated. Ones that are about lore or gameplay suggestions are less likely to be locked (unless they're really old), as those things are less likely to become outdated (and new threads may just end up repeating what's already there).

For me though, there's a hard cutoff of 3 months, unless you're the OP. If something's older than three months, don't bring it up again unless it's your own topic. If it is your own topic, make sure that what you're adding is relevant, otherwise it's still just bumping something old when a new thread may be more appropriate.

Moderation requires individual judgement when applying rules and being human application will vary.
Overall upper admin management determines how flexible a mod can be with their judgement as well.

As covered in the forum rules, if you ever have questions or concerns about a disciplinary action or decision we have made on the ESO forums, or wish to appeal a forum warning or infraction you’ve received, we ask that you please contact https://help.elderscrollsonline.com/ to do so (please specify that you are contacting about a forum-related inquiry or appeal). We are happy to discuss and review specific moderation-related actions with you, but we do not allow discussion of any moderation actions or decisions on our forums. As such, we are locking this thread.

We generally lock older threads if they're outdated, or there are other active threads on the topic. This is particularly true when the person who brings the thread up doesn't add something constructive to the discussion. There is a lot of wiggle room here, and if we make a bad call please reach out to the moderator who locked the thread to make your case.

There are no hard and fast rules concerning necromancy, but @Enodoc's guidelines are a pretty good rules of thumb for an active forum. With quieter sections, bumping an old thread is more acceptable, and for some discussion (like lore) the age of the thread doesn't really matter, although if there are more recent threads it could still get locked and redirected to one of those.
Our opinions on this is irrelevant :) the forum rules states that we should not do it, so better just to not do it :)
The forum rules don't say anything about necromancy, and posting in an old thread won't result in disciplinary action unless there is another problem, like spam or disruptive posting, or you've been told not to do this previously.
