happy monday - yeah, right :(

just wondering on dueling do's and don'ts...not talking about pvp combat...mostly just friendly competition...

specific question - is it cool to pull out your ultimates while dueling - i'm thinking in particular the werewolf...it just feels a little wrong to be fighting someone as one thing, then Shazam you turn into some op beast...

Make sure that when Dueling drops when One Tamriel releases, we need to band together, venture into Cyrodiil, recruit the top PVPers, and have them play watchdog on the Starter Zones, so trolls don't go around wrecking the newbies.

I think the number one rule should be that if someone has duel requests disabled you should respect that and not ask them in chat (or via mail or whatever) to duel.

    Do's:

Fight in an area where other people are not likely to mess with your duel.

Use any advantage in your arsenal to win. Expect your opponent to do the same.

Anticipate that your opponent has OP weapons and avoid every attack you can.

    Don'ts:

Teabag your opponent. That's Cyrodiil behavior not befitting an honored duelist.

Treat duels like you do zergs in Cyrodiil. You're fighting one person, not twenty.

Just walk away when you win. Allow your defeated opponent the opportunity to revive him/herself and salute you.

My guildmates say that I have to use my WW build when we duel, including farming up the ult beforehand to ensure I have it ready for said duel. That's a challenge if I ever did hear one. Apparently they think I'm decent in my WW build... not sure how they got that idea, though. We are all just a bunch of PvE Care Bears, last I checked.

Up to you and the person you are dueling with.

Tournament duels often start with each participant blowing ultimates at the start. Even if you don't, if your ultimate is already fully charged at the start, at least wait a bit before using it, rather than drop meteors on your buddy right out of the gate.

I suppose most people are dueling in order to practice, improve and try different build ideas. - so you might agree to prohibit certain sets or save gold by both of you not using potions etc.

    Fight nekked
Drink heavily (irl) before starting a duel

    Don'ts

    Run with scissors
    Assume a woman is pregnant
    Enroll in University of Pheonix
Inhale a bean burrito and black coffee just before your big presentation at work.

Lol probably! On a good night I don't have to devour... on a bad night devour doesn't work. Meh.... it's all in the cards. Much like my talent as a pvper!

I'm going to try and win every duel I get into in under 2 seconds and then use an invisibility potion if that doesn't work.

Don't expect someone to follow any dueling rules unless you've coordinated with them beforehand.

If you challenge a complete random stranger to a duel there are no rules.

Talk to your opponent before starting the duel so you can get to an agreement.
Just so that everyone knows, my Altmer still can't have black hair. About a dozen of Altmer NPCs in the game have black hair. Just saying.

    Meet my characters:
    Command: Do the thing.

Zadarri, Khajiit Fist of Thalmor: The thing was done, as commanded.
Durza gra-Maghul, Orc blacksmith: The thing was done perfectly, in the most efficient way.
Tegwen, Bosmer troublemaker: You can't prove I didn't do the thing.
Sings-Many-Songs, Argonian fisher: Sure, I'll do the thing... Eventually. Maybe.
Aerindel, Altmer stormcaller: After extensive research, I've come to the conclusion that doing the thing would be a waste of resources.
Liliel, Dunmer pyromancer: Aerindel said I shouldn't do the thing. Something about "resources".
Gyda Snowcaller, Nord cryomancer: I will find a way to do it that won't waste resources and make Aerindel proud of me.
Beatrice Leoriane, Breton vampire: I persuaded someone else into doing the thing. You are welcome, dear.
Sahima, Redguard performer: Doing the thing sounds awfully unpleasant and really not my problem.
Ellaria Valerius, Imperial priestess: I'll pray to the Eight for the thing to be done, if it is Their will.

This seems like a pretty bad rule. A great variety of builds are geared to survive via such mobility. If you take that away, you're giving a clear advantage to people with mitigation/sustain builds.

    I don't disagree.

I went behind a tree one time while fighting a bow user in Cyrodiil as I ran out of magicka and was trying to sustain myself. My opponent got incredibly angry after the fight. (Woops didn't know it was a rule sorry dude.) I told this to one of my known dueler friends and he told me it's considered disrespectful to use such tactics. I don't do it anymore, have better sustain and usually kill them before I am dry.

I wouldn't mind someone using LoS against me because well I have my mines waiting for them around the corner and/or a negate to fill the area to scare them out in the open. But in general it's very frowned upon and you will probably be insulted afterwards.

Ya you got to stand and block it for 5 seconds. Running away from or LoSing an atronach is plain bad manners too ;)
