Are HOT's dealt with just the same as DOTs?

1. Question from our Healer, are Heals over Time calculated the same as Damage over Time - and all bonuses / buffs the same?

i.e. does Thaumaturge boost HOT's, and everything else?

side note, Spell Damage being consistently called Spell Power when it impacts both would simplify stuff like this. I appreciate Spell Damage is just a stat name but its often mentioned as Power, which would make more sense when it helps heals. And leave damage for damage.

I am 100% certain thaumaturge does not effect heals. The only CP stars that effect healing are blessed, crits are be upped by elfborn for magic based heals and precise strikes from stam(pretty much just vigor).

Blessed = Direct healing boost.
Elfborn = Magicka crit healing boost.
Quick recovery = Direct healing boost.

Thaum = Dots

Yea, forgot about Quick recovery, it only impacts heals that you receive, either cast by yourself or by someone else. Blessed and Quick recovery are additive as well.

I also want to reiterate that vigor crit heals are impacted by precise strikes and NOT elfborn. Elfborn is magic only.

Maybe my terminology of HOT for heal over time is wrong so my question is not clear?

I'm keen to know if healing DOTs are treated exactly like damage DOTs in all scenarios. I.e. Every place a buff to DOT is mentioned that it would impact a Healing DOT (HOT) like thaumaturge.

Have I stumped the forum with this?

And you are 100% wrong. Each thaumatage CP I add gives me 18 more magicka. Each time I get more magicka my heals become stronger by a few points.

I get what you are saying @danielpatrickkeaneub17_ESO but its splitting hairs, the core effect is what we were after, obviously any points into the Magika tree will add a small gain

I agree with that, but the guy did say he was 100% certain that it didn't help. It clearly does help, even a little. It certainly does not help as much though.

Except that it does. My breath of life tool tip is above 10,800 only based on thaumatage and elemental expert. Yes, it would be MUCH higher with the healing specific ones, and yes, it's an indirect effect, but it's not nothing.

but it is NOT the STAR that is doing that, broski, it is the champion point itself, which was not part of the question asked.

and i would like to point out that your cp have nothing to do with your tool tip, other then blessed, quick recovery and the crit one do not show up in it.

so your tooltip "danielpatrickkeaneub17_ESO" is based of your spell damage and your max magic.
