How to avoid Maelstrom crashes on Xbox One?

Hello everyone, I have been trying to get the Flawless Conqueror achievement and have already done a few no death runs without getting the title. Obviously I have looked into several threads regarding this issue, but other than "just do it again until you don't crash" I didn't get anything useful out of them. This is making me mad as you can probably imagine. I always crash when going from Stage 5 to 6 or from Stage 6 to 7. Is there anyway to avoid these crashes?

Is there something I am doing wrong I run to the pillar wait until the spider touches and then I have to move or risk being beat down by the Commander. I swear is I could in real life I would shove that sword so far up his.....

The reason being that the quest is used by the server to save your progress in the arena. So the moment you crash, the server places a marker at the round you were about to start, saving your progress so you can continue later. This became an issue when they updated the achievement requirements to include that a flawless run must be done in one attempt. Since the server saved your progress, your run is now considered a 2 attempt run and disqualified you from the achievement.

So if you don't pick up the quest, you may still crash, but as long as you log in quickly enough, you should be able to resume your run without the server deciding that you've ended your original attempt.

Edit: I was also told by tech support that an improvement to maelstrom stability should be coming with update 12, but who knows how effective that will be.

re kicking mid fight, i have noticed that when i come back i ALWAYS have mail (listing sold on trader)

the first few times i thought it was a coincidence... but after 10 mid fight kicks & mail arriving on re-log! it has to connected. or ive totally lost my marbles. LOL

On the fourth night approaching the 5th day sacrifice your prized possessions to RNGesus and preform the ritual of no disconnects for 1 whole week. If this is done correctly then you'd be able avoid disconnects for only 1 hour in vMSA.

You grab the xbox by the power lead and swing it round the room viciously until it's in bits.

In your sorrow you run out and spend 3k on a pc and start all over again to the platform that zos actually gives 2 *** about and don't suffer this problem.

Kudos on your score btw. Well done indeed. Mine was done without a single sigil btw.

Lol yeah sounds good. Seriously though. Is there some trick like travelling out of vMA and then get back in. Maybe not taking the quest or something?

I had the same problem, done 50+ flawless runs until one day it did not crash.

Yeah I didn't actually need the sigil I took it just to make sure that the [SNIP] is dead. Thanks man I'll try to do another run tonight without the stupid mistakes that make me want to grab the sigil.

Yeah I guess its PC or nothing.

We should change the achievement to say "No Crash" run, because the "No Death" is waaaay easier.

Lagstrom/Bugstrom/Crashstrom Arena is a bad place.

I will try what you suggested though. Anything goes now.

Here is my solution I got Flawless on XB1 EU finally last week with this method.

1) Travel to VMA and collect the quest.
2) Travel somewhere and wait the Maelstrom Reset time. ( I usually go and feed and view the guild traders in Wayrest then stock up on Potions.
3) Travel back to VMA via any wayshrine.
4) Press Home Button and Quit the game completely then relog in.
5) Load back into the arena and pray with RNGesus.

Good luck!

P.S This all sounds stupid but it works for me every time now.

I ran into exactly the same problem earlier this week. The advice I got was not to pick up the quest before starting.

After this last patch I am running into a problem on final boss of final round.

When boss teleports up spawning the clanafer the teleports pads along the outside are all lit up so I have no way of knowing which one I am suppose to kill the clanafer next to.
Even when they are all lit up they all don't work so it is impossible to know which one to use.
Anyone ever have this and know how to fix?

Honestly....you can perform a hard reset before starting the game.
I'd also say faster external HD's can help but my experience is that this is a ZOS issue.

Heck....right now I can barely reach the character screen so with the recent update, I can't even get in the game consistently.

This is what I do before you go in dashboard and than you can go through it and not crash.

If you dont pick up the quest in vma and you crash between rounds you can still get flawless. If you pick up the quest you cant get it for some reason.

to avoid crashing, i have abandoned all quests, emptied my inventory down to 1 (a stack of potions) i have the banker so this may or may not be feasble for you.
this has severely reduced the amount of kicks, not sure if it will help in mael, since those kicks are deffinatley even triggered (passing through portal) but may be worth a shot.
