Decrease in Armor Rating?

Hi, I was crafting 3 sets of non-vet armor last night...

one of the characters I was upgrading had level 34 heavy armor - when I crafted him a new set of level 44 armor all my stats (including armor rating) went down...the same thing happened to his weapons...

the level 34 set contained infused, reinforced, impenetrable, and divines traits - the level 44 just had impenetrable and divines...the armor rating went down by a couple of hundred on each piece...the status effect of the armor (it was willows path and night mother's gaze) also decreased significantly (i'm thinking this may have occurred by not using the infused trait on any of the pieces - but, the recovery effect went from 100 to 70 regen)...both sets of weapons contained precise and sharpened traits...

both sets are in blue (weapons purple)...I also crafted new sets for two other characters (level 16 to 24 and level 24 to 30) in both light and medium/heavy...the stats on those sets increased as expected...

any idea why my level 44 heavy armor and weapons may have had their stats decreased when I crafted them...

so riddle me this batman - when is a thing not a thing

sooooooo, as it turns out - i finally bump up to level 44 and yes sirrree - i can now see my armor rating accurately...

moral of the story ladies and gentlemen - you must be of that level or greater, in regards to equipment, in order to accurately view their armor and weapon damage rating...

    whew...I feel so much better...

okay, now that's bizarre- how in the world did this final comment get moved up to the second comment?????

the world is just full of so many mysteries...

The decrease in armor must've went down due to not using reinforced, though I'm surprised that the armor increasing 10 levels didn't make up for it.

The infused trait doesn't effect armor bonuses, only enchantments. The only thing that would effect the stats for armor bonuses is level and quality of the armor.

I guess I'd make sure all pieces of armor are the correct level and are in fact set armor. I've made both of those mistakes when crafting armor.

thanks @Danksta (although after reading your ID - i now wanna go home and medicate :p )...

when I get home I'll look it all over again - it was weird though, some pieces were the exact same trait, same quality, everything but the level (one 34, one 44)...so, it was apples to apples...

I haven't equipped the armor yet - so, I was kinda thinking if I equipped it maybe the numbers would go up - but, that doesn't really make any sense.. I'm starting to wonder if some how some way it may have glitched...pretty unlikely though...

FUDGE!!!! what the heck is going on????

so I get home, re-check two of my characters armor - sure enough, my level 43 characters is wearing level 34 and the level 44 armor I just crafted him last night still "appears" to have a lower armor rating than his current level 34 gear (same situation with a level 29 character wearing level 24 gear, made him level 30 stuff)...I take of all their current gear and along with the new gear - put it all in the bank...

I pick up all that stuff with my Crafter so I can take it back to the crafting station to make sure I'm doing everything right - suddenly I look at the numbers again and they make sense...when I'm looking at them with this character the new higher level gear does in fact have a higher armor rating then their old gear...

go back to the bank and put everything back...log back in with one of the characters I'm trying to upgrade their gear (the level 43 guy)...look at his old armor versus new and again, the new higher level stuff is again has lower armor rating (same situation with the weapons) than the old stuff...

for the love of rngeezus...what the heck is going on?

do I need to be that higher level to see the correct armor rating? do I need to equip the gear to see the correct armor rating?

ugh, I feel like smashing my head into wall :#

Is it because the heavy armour bonus/first passive isn't applying (due to it not being equipped)?

I was wondering about that...just checked the heavy armor passive- none of them specifically address armor rating...

when I could see the correct/appropriate difference between the level 34 and level 44 armor it was with a cp360 character (my crafter)...but - now that I'm thinking of it - when I was looking through my bank with my level 43 character to get his armor back - i remembered noticing that I could see the difference in the light armor I had crafted that was still in the bank...the old armor was level 24, new level 30 - that armor did show the appropriate level upgrade in Armor rating...

oh yeah, trying to level up my 43 to 44 so I can put the armor on and know for sure - unfortunately I'm in cyro and my bounty is sorcerer - no quick xp there - cuz there hardly are any sorcerers left in cyro :)

Weird...I wore heavy armour once on one build a long time ago so I am pretty unfamiliar with the passives lol I just remembered something about an increase in resistances and wasn't sure.

I really want to go on one of my lower levels and check this out. Very curious.

I try to make it a rule to neither late night guild store shop or craft...

yeah, I'm not so great at sticking to my own rules...

it had me running circles with 3 characters for a good while...

if i can hunt down some more sorcerers or actually do some quests for a little while, I'll know for sure...
