Harvesting addons - quick question if I may?

I've got one of the harvest map addons (not at home so can't say exactly which one, yeah useful I know), and in the settings there is a clicky to download the latest node positions. problem is when I click it it takes to a page where I'm supposed to upload my points..

Long story short, can someone recommend a harvest add-on that will populate my map with nodes please?

I'm a new/returned player only level 11 and need mats for writs and my own gear so any help would be appreciated...

Thanks all.

P.S. I use Minion for addons so am a PC user.

I use Destinations addon but with this one you need to discover forst the node and it will be on your map. Dont know if there is an addon with the map of all nodes.
Yep Minions is good as addon manager.

There is, be nice to figure out how to download the node positions from the link in its settings... Takes you to a webpage but there is only a button to upload your own map points...

Just upload your empty saved file for the add-on. It does this to not only get updated harvest locations but to actually set the internal field names of all your characters and account. If you just downloaded the file you wouldn't be able to use it as it wouldn't have your account/character names in it.

Well I actually figured it out today... I went to the .de site it says it will and discovered I had to upload my own .lua files before I could download the collective efforts.. However, I did as it said and uploaded my full of files and then it allowed me to download the collective efforts... I imported the files I was given, and was pure p***ed off to discover no harvest nodes that I hadn't discovered myself.. I was expecting a good map full.. I had my 3 discoveries by Glenumbra only...

My rating is bunch of arse out of 10 - I'd love someone to tell em what I did wrong?!

Hang on, I have3 just become aware I'm sounding like a tube, so I will explain the whole process I went through for failure..,

    1. Went into harvestmap import... Browsed me to some .de website
    2. Only by clicking on a tiny "?" did the site reveal that I had to upload my own harvest nodes before I could DL the collective files
    3. 100% Fair enough, you contribute or get nothing... So I uploaded my required files and promptly received my DL link for the community files..
    4. I dropped these files 1 by 1 into my "saved variables" directory as stated and a grand nothing had changed in game despite a full restart.
    5. I look at settings for harvest map import and it says it will import a file called "harvestmapimport.lua", but none of the files I could download from the .de site where called that.. I discovered much to my confusion that the only file that could be called that was the file I could export for another player to use... So after I almost kicked my rig out the f*****g window, I had to ask the Daerdric tubes, how is it I can only import a file I just exported..
    6. I hadn't even had a drink at that point

While I appreciate the authors skills, I can absolutely be fairly sure on a bet that he/she is not a native English speaker, for the pure and simple reason the words on links do pretty much the opposite of what they are meant to do, and after sober application of common sense I still have zero new harvest nodes despite DL'ing 5 files at pretty much 3Mb each..

Anyway please someone that has got this working, review my steps and reveal my *** reading comprehension if I am guilty..

NOW I'm off to get leathered!!

Thing is, you don't need, or even want all the Harvest Nodes on your map. The more nodes you have being rendered, the more the game slows down. Harvest Map and Master Merchant are two of the biggest lag introducing mods out there. You could turn your game into a slide show just having all them being tracked.

The trick with Harvest Map is to track only one type of Harvest Node. Reason, nodes are almost always clustered together in groups of different types. This addon is not to show you the exact location of each and every node, even though it can, it is to show you the general route you take through a zone to Farm. And, due to the performance issues, once you learn the routes, then you don't really even need the addon to be active.

So, just do the harvesting yourself to place the nodes on the map. In a short period of time, you will have an idea of the route to take to most efficiently farm a zone. Just do your self a favor and only track one category, Alchemy would be my pick as the others are almost always near Alchemy nodes, or along the path between them.

Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

you'll find you dont need it soon enough but chest, heavy sack and thief box locations are always handy. I know the harvester addon allows filters . I found using it for everything bloated and unnecessary really, there is material everywhere and it slows loading down as well. imo

I'm not exactly sure where you went wrong...the entire process is definitely a little confusing and could use some tweaks in the UI/naming to make it easier. What I do is just:
    1. Upload the 4 files to the website.
    2. Copy the updated downloaded files to my SavedVariables folder overwriting the existing ones.
    3. Reload the UI to update the game (make sure you have all 5 HarvestMap add-ons enabled).

If that doesn't work for you then something is up. I see on the HarvestMap merge website he updated something yesterday (Sept 9) and says he hasn't tested it yet (naughty dev!) so it may well be that the merge is no longer working. As you say the files you downloaded are ~3MB in size which sound right so assuming you copied them to the correct folder it should be working. If not try contacting the add-on author and submit a bug report (and suggest some UI improvements for the merge site).

Thanks for that mate, I'm thinking the author has broke it since what you described is what I did in the end and more than once in case I was being an idiot.. But yeah, the UI and instructions could do with a serious re-work to be more user friendly...
