I need to stop using a wireless keyboard...

I was just in IC sewers when I ran into a solo enemy player. He attacked, I fought back, he did lots of damage, I was outhealing it (without doing that much damage in return), and it looked like it was shaping up to be a fun fight. I felt like he was a better PVPer than me, and that he was likely to win in the end, but I also felt like I was giving him a good run for his money.

Then I couldn't weapon swap to get back to my healing bar.

And I couldn't even use any of my DPS abilities.

And I couldn't move.

It didn't take him long to kill me then - in fact it happened before either of us really knew what was happening. My first thought was that I was bugged or got hit by some crazy silence/CC that I couldn't break, but when I was dead and couldn't hit R to release I realized that my keyboard's batteries had died.

*facepalm*

I've had this happen to me a couple of times in group dungeons (which is super annoying), but this is the first time I've had it happen in PVP - let alone in a PVP fight that I was actually enjoying (I'm not really that into PVP). It was just embarrassing. After I grabbed new batteries and released, I had to whisper the guy to apologize for giving him such a poor fight.

Let this be a cautionary tale: wireless keyboards will let you down, and sometimes it will be at really frustrating times. I've been sticking with this one that I've had for years because I actually really like it, but I think it's time for me to go keyboard shopping...

I play with really high mouse sensitivity. So sometimes, my hand will twitch, and my camera will fly around.

It has caused me to fly off the edge in the beginning of Sanctum Ophedia.

But I like being able to move my mouse all around my monitor with about a 1 cm radius.

lol that happens to me sometimes too...

Well, not specifically the Sanctum Ophidia thing, but it has caused me to gallop right off a cliff before.

This is precisely why all my gaming gear and peripherals are wired.

I can manage cables, so I don't have to manage without power ^^

I gave up on wireless keyboard and mouse combos some years ago, they always let me down at the wrong moment however often I kept the batteries recharged, and indeed don't make any use of wireless facilities at all. I often wonder how many players reporting lag in Cyrodiil etc are using wireless internet connections, for example. They just aren't suitable for gaming. All of that relates to performance issues, but of course there's another big concern with wireless connections in relation to security.

There actually is a bug that happens to me from time to time, but somehow tends to show up mostly in VMA - all character actions (skill, dodge roll, etc) just stop responding. All you can do is run around while your opponents kill you. That is a real rage promoter.

My first keyboard and mouse were wireless, too. The rechargeable batteries i used for the mouse were that old and bad, that i had to exchange them like every two days. When playing Counterstrike, i could reload my mouse as fast as i could reload my gun ingame :D

The keyboard let me down like every two month. Really strange, helpless feeling. While beeing able to get into cover when the mouse didn't work or tell the teammates to wait a sec, you feel totally helpless once the keyboard doesn't work anymore.

    Get rid of it today.
