If points towards stars only came from badges, no one would have enough for 10 stars.
Badges only play a small roll, since each badge only awards a small amount of points.
By far the most points come from reactions to your posts by other people.

Surragard✭✭✭✭There aren't as many people on the forums as there used to be and I do agree its much harder to earn stars now as a result. Also people don't seem to use the buttons as often anymore. With that said, to the best of my knowledge they have never announced any plans regarding the stars actually earning you anything.
