Well i finally did it, cyrodiil finally made me crack, the technical issues that never get fixed, the bouncing ping, the insane loading screens the animation cancelling that was never an intended function the exploits the glaring insanity of the build imbalances the list goes on, and i couldnt even be bothered listing the pve issues, from this point on until these major issues are resolved i will no longer invest money in this game, i will no longer buy crowns, i just cancelled my sub, this is my one man protest and i am protesting and voicing myself because i genuinely enjoy this game and the people in it immensely and it really pee's me off that i have to do this.

    The game will keep lagging if ~70% of the people that PvP on a mega-server go in the same campaign. Why they actually do this is beyond my understanding. I'm on EU-PC and Trueflame is always pop locked for all 3 alliances while Spell Breaker is almost completely empty, even in IC, and Ebony Blade has maybe a dozen players active at one time, on average, in each alliance. Of course both of those get their occasional zerg, but that's a rare occurrence. If people who are so sick of lag would actually go play on less crowded campaigns the problem will solve itself.

    But thats pushing the issue onto the consumer, it should be on zos to provide a working environment with the boundaries and environment they provide us to be stable and usable, otherwise it is a product not working as intended, here where i live if a product does not work as intended to within a satisfactory level we can make an official complaint to the government agency, here we can do nothing but speak with our wallets.

    As I to used to feel your pain. I have came to realize. That MMOs are not the only multi player games on the market. The MOBA companies are, seeing the downfall of the MMO genre. So a few of them have started to place PvE content in their MOBAs. I'm talking about the action MOBAs not the point and click MOBAs.

    As of now there is only one MMO company out. That has it's eyes on the prize and it's legacy. That's CCP with their "Flagship" Eve Online. All the rest of the MMOs have fell and continuously fall the same way. Investors and Upper Management gets ADD. They start making intentionally game breaking balancing issues, in order to push players to spending more money. Instead of being creative and making better looking cosmetics, and content lush DLCs. They lose their communities. They start to introduce RNG boxes as cosmetics. Then RNG boxes start the Pay to Win business model. More players leave. Then the companies go full frontal in your face Pay 2 Win, just to keep servers online.

    This has been is the trend of all MMOs atm and for the past 4 or 5 years. Fear not for the end of the MMO genre draws near. Welcome to the MMO Apocalypse guys and gals. This train has no brakes. They have been burnt off by short term greed. Enjoy the end.

    I was going to start my own thread on this today, but I'll just add to yours.

    I could care less about lag in Cyrodil. I expect it there. I was questing with a friend in craglorn last nite and every time there was combat, the frames would drop like it was freezing up, lag got real bad, I expected it to crash but it didn't; couldn't tell what I was doing, abilities took way to long to show up, my friend disappeared going into a delve, all you could see was an arrow over where he was supposed to be.

    These things need to get fixed. It makes the game seem so trashy.

    I was getting lag quite a bit last week on PS4.

    I then realised my ps4 was downloading updates for other games and my son was watching you tube.

    My broadband isn't fibre. I get 3.5mbs and it generally plays fine (any issues are generally something at my end)

    Wait until the "LOOK AT ME I'M DUELING" people get started. I noticed lag on the pts, which is not exactly highly populated. When this kicks in for the live game, its going to be a massive slideshow, especially if they allow dueling around wayshrines, like Mournhold. The wayshrine where the majority of people port into, where all the crafting stations are, and where all the guild traders are located in a very convenient circle....

    I avoid that wayshrine at all costs. Half of the time I get timeout DC when porting to it and it I don't the port time is very long. It takes less time to port to the next one and ride into town.

    You might be right, but it is hard to compare server performance between Live and PTS. PTS is a pretty small system compared to Live. Also, they may have performance-sucking measurement and metrics running for debugging purposes on PTS that is not running on Live.

    Comparing client performance is easier, even if the PTS client is not optimized for performance, yet. If the Live client lags in towns were players are spamming abilities, then dueling is going to be like that. I would think this especially the case if more than one duel was going on in an area. One thing to consider is that some of the people who are, today, jumping around and spamming abilities around wayshrines will be dueling instead. For me, the client does not lag when I am around these people, but others might not have the same experience.

    This is a stupid solution and I'll tell you why. Full campaigns and zergs definitely seem to be the cause of all the lag, I believe that to be true. But let's say for arguments sake that this game was so wildly popular that every campaign was full. What would you do then? And running in zergs is crappy, but if that's how you want to play why shouldn't you be able to? Telling people who hate lag to go to empty servers is a terrible fix. WE SHOULDN'T HAVE TO FIND WORK AROUNDS TO MAKE THIS GAME PLAYABLE! Zenimax needs to find out WHY large scale battles cause such a problem in pvp. THAT'S WHAT THEY SOLD THE GAME AS! "Come play elder scrolls and have these massive epic battles in pvp" yet their servers have never been able to handle said battles.

    Hmm.. maybe you just need a break like I did. Go do some dungeons, slowly level a new character, or pick some flowers. It is good for the soul, and you will come back stronger :)

    I guess since we are complaining, it is my turn :)

    Enough is Enough ZOS!

    Yesterday I went IC put 10k stones in my pocket and headed to the sewer. I was fighting those Hoarvor bugs at the beginning of the sewer, and guess what happens? My game freezes up and I get disconnected.. hmm and then I log back in just to find myself dead and missing 5k stones.

    OMG! I am tired of losing my stones when I lose connection. So far ZOS has ganked me 15k stones.

    I guess I can't carry any stones in the fear I will be disconnected during a fight.

    If you think things are bad now, wait till One Tamriel comes out. They won't have fixed the game code, they wont have fixed the server stability, PVE is going to be just a awful as PVP primetime with the slideshow lag fests. Pretty much every dungeon run will be a slide show joke.

    God I hope I am wrong on this but when you don't resolve issues and make major changes really bad things will happen. Until they fix the core of the issue, things will continue to get worse and worse. Pretty soon you won't even be able to load into a crafting station without a 10 minute loading screen.

    Actually PvP won't change much since campaigns are even now on different physical/virtual servers within the megaserver cluster in which players from all 3 alliances connect by design. It's only PvE that will change, putting players from all 3 alliances in the same server as well. Right now there are 3 instances for each alliance zone, Coldharbour and Craglorn. Those will be consolidated into just one. Depending how space is actually allocated this could lead to different perceived outcomes, but mostly for PvE players.

    There's most certainly a timeout disconnect timer on server. So there's actually a small time gap between the moment your connection drops and the server actually logging out the char. If you are fighting something when you get DC you will get killed because you can't log out/or you won't be logged out by the system until you are out of combat. The actual DC may be anywhere on the internet connection between you and the server so blaming ZoS for this one instance, or multiple instances is not that fair.

    PVP would be good IF. the Maps were split up more evenly. When the maps say this campaign is full, its not full ITS OVERFLOWING. it needs to be limited, there needs to be more campaigns so players can split out evenly across them, this would fix the lag, as not so many players would be in that map, at the moment i log in to PS4 and nearly every campaign will have full on either all or 1 of the factions. its ridiculous.

    I decided to complain too because i'm at work and THIS ANIMATION WON'T DO WHAT IT IS TOLD.

    You think Cyrodiil is enough to make you quack now.. wait till One Tamriel hits and when everybody and their mothers is trying to hit you up for dueling and when those dueling are happening everywhere and anywhere. Lol!

    Yes the game can be horrendous when large scale battles occur. Flip side, the lag is always present, even when there are few players in an area of the map, this could be down to my internet speed though.

    Having played world vs world in gw2, a game with similar numbers, large scale battles with 100 + in a small area, it was very rare to experience the level of lag like we get in Cyrodiil. In fact, the only time it become a real issue for players was during a ddos attack back in late 2013.

    Question is, why can a game like gw2 handle large scale battles without too much trouble. Think Stonemist castle battles for anyone who knows the game, with 2 sides attacking, one defending. How come this game cannot achieve the same?

    Players should be able to roam & battle in any size group they choose. Considering what the alliance war is, or was designed to be, which is not small scale, as such. Not to say people cannot play small scale, if they desire or roam solo.

    Perhaps the map is too big. Split the map in two, see if it makes a difference. Of course this would mean a total revamp of the alliance war.

    Players should be able to roam & battle in any size group they choose. Considering what the alliance war is, or was designed to be, which is not small scale, as such. Not to say people cannot play small scale, if they desire or roam solo.

    Perhaps the map is too big. Split the map in two, see if it makes a difference. Of course this would mean a total revamp of the alliance war.

    Because ESO has way way way more particle effects then GW2. Then add in the supremely higher quality of graphics in ESO. On top of the botched anti - botting code they implemented back in 2014. Means a lot more strain on the servers.

    Now if you would said Eve Online instead of GW2. Then you may have a argument. I still remember being part of 2 of the most EPIC battles of ALL TIME of gaming.

    The battle of O2O- and the historical battle of B-R. No other game can even hope to touch the scale, and commitment CCP has giving to it's community.

    What is killing PvP on PS4's only 30 day campaign is the total population imbalance that is allowed to exist and the large number of broken OP builds both mostly on the DC side.
    Oh wait most of the devs are DC aren't they? lol

    Seriously, population balance is way out of whack.

    Having played world vs world in gw2, a game with similar numbers, large scale battles with 100 + in a small area, it was very rare to experience the level of lag like we get in Cyrodiil. In fact, the only time it become a real issue for players was during a ddos attack back in late 2013.

    Question is, why can a game like gw2 handle large scale battles without too much trouble. Think Stonemist castle battles for anyone who knows the game, with 2 sides attacking, one defending. How come this game cannot achieve the same?

    Yeah ive logged thousands of hours on gw2 wvw and for the most part there is no lag but when it gets busy you can get skill lag where you hammer your skills and they just sit there and flash and do nothing but everything else is fine, kind of annoying, but that was only a sometimes thing, not a permanent issue.

    And to the other fellow complaining about putting pvp threads in general, it wasnt meant to be the primary topic of the thread, cyrodiil just happened to be the catalyst.
