Basically in game tokens gotten from doing quests and dungion runs. Not any pay to win tokens from crown store or anything like that. Pretty much giving you the tokens for doing certain content, dailies and other things. Would you prefer Tokens or would you rather stick with the rng.

In theory that would also help the economy cause people would be looking for items to re do weapons and armor traits. This could go far as changing the the armor style as well if you wanted to.2 -

I think changing a trait would be nice, it simply removing the useless traits on endgame gear.2 -

How is grinding pay to win? You don't pay for it, you just grind and then pick what you want. It might even take longer then with RNG since with that you can still get lucky and get it to drop on the first try.1 -

Pretty much they have a lot of dallies in the game theives guild dark brotherhood, pvp boards, crafting dallies, World boss dallies etc. They are also adding fighters guild and mages guild dailies with One Tamrial. They could tie the token system into quests like this and dungion runs. As well as doing normal quests, with a chance of getting a jackpot on the tokens maybe adding a reward crate with a certain amount of tokens in them. For each of the dallies and main questlines. With a chance of tokens also dropping from world bosses. Now this I think would be much better system then the rng one we have right now.Edited by Thevampirenight on September 14, 2016 12:42PMPC NA

Basically I think if they tie it in to the daily quests, maybe giving bonus tokens if they are dlc dailies you are running. They could get more to buy the dlcs just for this. Now every daily quest in game would give the tokens. Also running dungeons and content. Now they can also give subs 10% bonus tokens from dailies and other things. This will get more people subbing as well possibly. Any chance of being able to get the stuff they want faster is one of the ways they can encourage people to buy.

If they do add a token system for weapons and armor.I can think of them adding three types of tokens. They would most likely have trial tokens, daily tokens and Dungeon Tokens. They of course do want people to play the content. By doing it this way it allows them to get folks to keep doing the content. I imagine the very rare things they don't want everyone to have would cost a lot of tokens which can be farmed by doing multiple dungeons or daily quests. They will then add better gear over time to the token stores and this keeps people farming for more tokens. So Basically they can be very successful with this system if they do it right. Now bear with me im just making up numbers here they could be anything. But let say everytime you ran a vet dungeon the final boss dropped a fragment of the monster helm for that dungeon. There would then be a vendor that would take 25 of those fragments and turn it into a monster helm with the trait of the stone you provided.
Nothing else would change. All the drops would still be the same. All this would do is guarentee that after so many runs of a dungeon you would always atleast get one piece you wanted.
Now I understand the vet dungeons helms should in theory be the easiest to get in update 12. But the idea applies to lots of places where the rng in this game is just so horrible.
Is it so bad that after 50 runs of VMA a person could buy 1 weapon exactly what they wanted if it has not dropped yet.
Anyway the over all point i was going for isnt that a token system has to be used to increase the grind. But a way to assit the player, and reduce the OMG factor of Ive done this hundreds of times and i have nothing to show for it!

How is completing the content for a token that you can save, and build up for something you actually want, not working for it ? A token for every boss you kill and 2 or 3 for the final boss or something. A vendor with the items for a set amount of tokens. That way you work for what you want and not for a prosperous Kena helm for the 15th time.2 -

They could collaborate with the player base to find the sweet spot for the number of tokens required to purchase an item for the various content. For example, for vMA one successful completion provides one token, and after getting 15 tokens you could purchase the vMA weapon of your choice if RNG hasn't smile upon you yet.
I'd also be cool with a trait change system, especially if they did it in such a way that made existing mats more valuable, and that could be used to get more money into the hands of new players (I remember starting this game how it seemed I was always broke as I constantly upgraded my bag and bank space). A notional example follows: by combining 50 green upgrade mats, 25 blue upgrade mats, 8 purple upgrade mats, 1 gold mat, and 10 X mats...crafting merchants could change the trait of an item. The X mat is new and has a rare chance of dropping when harvesting a raw resource node.
The X mat should be unaffected by crafting skill so all players have an equal chance of obtaining it. The X mat would likely be very valuable, especially to end-game players, so new ESO players that obtained it could sell it for a good amount and thereby make it easier for them to buy bag space, bank space, etc.PC NA

No, I am fine with Rng I don't want a Token system.long story short- the RNG SYSTEM isn't the problem the RNG system PERCENTAGES are the problem. (incremental increases needed to the drop-odds, to increase rewarding opportunities)
the problem i have with token systems, is two fold- 1) they typically include time-locks on instances and 2) they lead to tiers of gear. those two issues are to force players to play as long as possible, for monetary reasons (income) by the company.
in my experiences, systems that use tokens instead of RNG lead to tiers- to get teir 3 you have to get tier 2; to get tier 2 you have to get tier 1. tier 1 is in normal instances, tier 2 in expert instances, and tier 3 is from raid instances. you have to grind through the system (which most don't then complain things are "too hard") to get the "feel-good" feelings you get from earning new gear. i am more of a hardcore MMOer, so that hasnt been a problem for ME; but a fair issue for the weekend warriors. sometimes these tiers are then locked behind increasingly difficult instances, which timelocks force players to work through to get to the "next stage", that most weekend warriors just aren't always up for (i intend that as a statement-of-fact; not an insult). i hated the tiers, because for me to get players setup for raiding, i have to some how get <max raid number> of players through instances, tier by tier, before the final tier is even viable. with time-locks, this quite frankly makes it quite impossible, to achieve.
with a time-lock, players have to wait for instance to open up for further play... not just for gear, but period. if i ran <x> dungeon, i must wait for <y> to go through it again. for example:
1) 16 hours of play time equals two 8 hour play sessions. 1 dungeon takes 1 hour, and there are 6 dungeons. that equates to 6 hours token farming, leaving 2 hours of no-tokens. so saturday and sunday i waste 4 hours not grinding tokens.
versus:
2) 16 hours of play time equals two 8 hour play sessions. 1 dungeon takes 1 hour, and there are 6 dungeons. that equates to 8 hours gear farming, leaving 0 hours of no-gear-grinding. so saturday and sunday i gain 2 hours not grinding tokens.
example 2 is where the current RNG system sees failure. in that example, at >least< 1 item should drop. if not, and you can't >trade< (make the drops tradeable!!), then there is a problem.
EQ used an RNG for items, which some exception to very high end raid items no-drop (can not be traded), but the RNG drops were predominately tradeable between players. in some cases, i was able to buy the gear, farming the gear, because farming the gear produced enough income to buy that item i was farming for, and for the most part it worked. sometimes it was just easier to buy the drop than camp the drop, as cash was easier to acquire than the time it took to spawn camp.
this is where example 1 fails the weekend warriors- they don't have the time to waste on time locks. those 4 hours lost is greater for them, than one like me, in that i have the time to waste while they do not. since i have the time, and the greater means, i jump way ahead and leave casuals way behind (a problem already in the game... lets not add to it). also, what if your schedule changes so you have 30 hours of time... 3 days 10 hours, that leaves you with more time wasted not gearing up... in WoW i couldn't tell you how many times i had to say "sorry i can't help you, but i have time-locks set already". it sucks, especially when it was one of my raiders needing a tank for instances.
the token system ends up burning both spectrum of players (hardcore and casuals)... adjustments to the system are needed, but i don't feel tokens are the best bet. i rather set my grind-time and keep the devs out of it as much as possible...Edited by ahstin2001nub18_ESO on September 14, 2016 8:38PMI will work. While I understand where you're coming from, this would be a big annoyance for players pre-token system, as they still had to suffer rng, doing goodness knows how many runs to try & get whatever part of a set or trait they were desiring.
