It's always a joke at someone else's expense until it happens to you. And I'm all for tasteless humor myself--there's few things that I won't poke fun at. But the prevalence of the term in reference to something as lighthearted as video games is almost sociopathically dissonant.

I'm so sorry I watched my grandfather pass in a decrepit hospital bed unable to speak. He was my world. There was nothing I could say to someone who meant so much. We just waved goodbye.

Same here with my grandma she was the one that raised me... it wasn't cancer but the impact is still the same....

The badasses around here are no different to elsewhere. They see someone using a word and roll with it. Last year and into this year it was 'entitled' that was the internet buzzword, that seems to be going South, so now 'cancer' is the all encompassing sheep word of the moment. Let them do their thing as it will be a new word in a year or two and you're just risking getting your Daisy Dukes in a twist over something you won't stop people saying.

I had a heart attack at the beginning of the year yet why should it bother me to see that or any other pseudo medical reference used in a sentence.

Maybe I'm missing something glaringly obvious here, but no one is saying you should be bothered about pseudo medical references. They're merely passing their own opinion and don't claim to speak on behalf of yourself or others like you. Just like there will be some people who will have had cancer who don't giving a flying **** if the word 'cancer' is used in some throwaway context by people on the internet that love their buzzwords.

Your tolerance and acceptance of life's negative events are different to someone else's.
Why is this concept so hard to grasp for some people? Someone I know suffered a violent, sexual assault and watches/ reads "flagged" material all the time. Each person's capacity for coping is unique and it's shortsighted of you to assume differently.

I understand why you would feel that way @Cazzy, but the term has a broader definition than just a medical diagnosis:

"a practice or phenomenon perceived to be evil or destructive and hard to contain or eradicate."

It's the best word for the problem OP is referring to.

As to the OP, idk why block/tank builds were called to the carpet. They're annoying but not as cancerous as the proc burst mega animation cancelling builds. Methinks he/she is the latter.

My biggest gripe with the current meta is that we basically have no choice but to be a cancerous burst build or a cancerous tank build - there isn't a lot of room for middle ground.

All you need to do is type "Cancer Definition" into Google. The broader aspect of the word that people refer to is in regards to racism, terrorism - bigger things than PvP builds.However, it's core definition remains a (sometimes terminal) medical illness.

Hey, maybe it's just me, but the most embarrassing thing in this thread is that guy who throws the word 'Bruh' into almost everything he types. Everyone is his bruh or bro. That's the sort of thing young kids love to say because they've seen some pseudo gangsta guy saying it on TV and in turn mimic it to their friends for a few weeks. It shows the mentality you're up against arguing with these people. It's akin to pissing into the wind. You can't win and only come out smelling of *** yourself.

Not sure why these builds bother people so much, it's not like they can kill anyone... in fact they're great to just smack around for a little bit so you can build up ultimate for when a real threat arrives.

I absolutely couldnt care less about what anyone thinks.

Im a solo pvper and a nightblade so sustain isnt easy at all. Therefore, i will work to my strengths and stay in the shadows... Then gank you.

I hear things everyday that offend me or I think are in bad taste, yet these people have a right to say what they want and don't try to go around correcting them as I can simply choose to ignore them.

The recent addition of text chat to console is a good example, the amount of sexual innuendos there are out of control, but I can simply choose not to pay attention to it.

Getting back on track, if a heavy armor permablock build is making you mad, you

A- roll a nightblade and fear every 6 seconds or

B- Not even worry about them because the builds you describe are used to focus the attention of potatoes and get them to waste their DPS on a hard target while the others with them blow you up.

Reread B and tell me what your issue is.

Wow, lol really? Permablocking tanks are cancer to you? They can't do *** except stand there and take a beating, just ignore them until all their friends are all dead and let them have it, and even if you can't kill them they couldn't kill you if their lives depended on it so there's no problem. I get with this burst meta you expect people to die when you burst them but not everyone is a squishy glass cannon and that's okay, the only cancer here is people thinking others playing differently is cancerous.

If it was imbalanced that would be one thing but it's not, some tanks can't be killed (at least without stacking 20 people on them and going ham) but those tanks can't do *** for themselves either and rely entirely upon being a distraction to contribute, deny them that and ignore them and you invalidate their entire existence. Permablocking tanks are so utterly useless against anyone besides scrubs who just attack the first thing they see, people with strategy focus on the healers of a group, then the DPS, and when that Tank is standing all by himself still not doing *** besides blocking, only then do you go for him and end him.
