What is the point of CP 10 - 150 materials and gear now?

I was thinking yesterday, that from the last patch, when someone reaches above LVL50, he/she can use cp160 gear right on. So what is the point of cp gear bellow that level (cp10 - 150)?

Getting to 160 CP can take a little time, so it serves a purpose for those getting to 50 for the first time.

no you do not need to have 531 cp. I have around 360 and I can wear all gear now cp160

as soon as you reach veteran rank (above level 50) you can use cp160 gear (max gear level now)

    and this is why once 1 tamriel drops all crafting materials will be scaled like they currently are in DLC's/PvP;

because the armour sets & materials will be useless to anyone over 160CP, but still useful to anyone below 160CP

which is why as a crafter i dont understand why there are so many people complaining that these materials will be difficult to source. availability of the material should ultimately even out to mach demand!

Unless there's something changing in the upcoming patch, you missed my point.

If I bought the game last week and my first character just reached level 50, I will have 0 champion points upon hitting 50. The materials are still useful for those players.

If it is your first character and you hit 50, you won't have 160cp yet. Only people who already have 160cp or more skip cp 10 - 150 when they level an alt.

If you already have 160CP on your account, yes. That means, if it's not your first character. Everyone with their first character will have to earn those 160CP first. They will use these materials. Admittedly, it will be a minority, but still.

wait, I do not understand what you mean by this sentence:
because the armour sets & materials will be useless to anyone over 160CP, but still useful to anyone below 160CP

    explain pls.

If you have less than 160CP on your account and at least one vet character you'll need those materials to craft gear for that character. What's so hard to understand ?

aha, so you have to have 160 cps to be able to wear that gear? I somehow misunderstood that in the previous patch notes then...then ok, I understand...

If you do not have 160 CPs, you will still need the CP 10 - 150 mats and gear.

well i am over 160CP so when I create an alt the second i reach level 50 i become CR160.
however for a brand new, just bought the game player, when they reach level 50 they are CR0 (zero)

there are also those players who have played for a long time, but only play a few hours a month so have yet to reach CR160
then there are the players who have just come bk to the game after a year's absence and have less than 160CP
or the RPers who don't care at ALL about levelling their character so despite playing ALL day EVERY day are below CR160 (i am not judging/questioning if this is how they want to play all power too them)

I think cp 160 should mean 160cp in each tree
