    @HoloYoitsu I disagree.

    People, please stop harassing @Wrobel.

@ZOS_GinaBruno @ZOS_JessicaFolsom This needs to stop. Wrobel is your colleague, and you shouldn't allow the community to use him as a scapegoat for a variety of in-game problems. Clearly it's not in his job description to be a regular forum-goer. These type of anti-Wrobel threads need to be nipped in the bud. @ZOS_DaryaK They're basically harassing him.

I too have issues with the game design, but it's poor taste to blame one individual for these problems. This is practically cyber bulling, and I am disgusted by how acceptable it's become to 'blame Wrobel' or make threads like 'he should be fired.' It's gone from harmless fun to seriously bad really quick.

I hope this thread gets shut down, and I hope you feel bad about your actions. Wrobel is a human being, and it's uncalled for that the blame is going to him alone. It's also terrible that the other ZOS staff are not intervening in this on his behalf, since he doesn't come on often to defend his ideas or himself.

I agree that he is a human being but he is a human being that pays absolutely no attention to these very forums or the game wouldn't be in such a bad state of balance as it currently is.

    Mark Jacobs talking about trolls...

    The trouble with trolls

Tribbles may be troublesome, but at least they are cute — unlike trolls that plague the gaming industry. The first part of our conversation focused on trolls and how they are adversely affecting the genre. To be clear, we aren’t referring to folks who call devs out for mistakes. “When we screw up as developers,” Jacobs said, “we should be called to the carpet. When we lie, we should be held accountable. But crossing the line to threats of violence, to harassment, that’s not holding us accountable. That’s not reasonable. All that does in the end of the day is hurt all of us who are gamers… There’s a real place on the internet for commentary — honest commentary. And sometimes even what would be perceived as negative attacks.”

But when the stuff is undeserved or way over the top (death threats, bomb threats — both of which Jacobs has endured)? “It’s unconscionable,” he says. “When devs are driven away, and when good people are afraid to post because they are afraid to be shouted down, nobody wins.” You’ve seen it: Trolls make an inhospitable environment for devs to be open and communicate with gamers. Some devs are even chased away, not just from communication but from the field. Everyone loses.

Is there a cure for trolls? Jacobs noted that while trolls have been around since the beginning, back then there were fewer because folks had to pay by the hour for their trolling time. If only we could return to financial penalties for trolls! “Sadly that’s not going to happen,” he said. “But frankly it should.” With so much potential in the industry, he hopes things improve on the coming years because there is so much good that comes from online games that people don’t talk about; the internet and games connect people and can even be a lifeline. One thing Jacobs likes to do is take the spotlight off and shining it on those who are doing good things. He said the world needs to see more of the good that is going on.

Maybe he should come on the forums to first and foremost realise how the community ACTUALLY feels about his poor balance changes and secondly and not as important defend himself from hate even though he brings it on himself

    Meh.
Wrobel became ESO Balance meme long ago and i don't believe that funny gif may hurt he's feelings somehow, as well as anyone at ZOS office. It's here for fun, i didn't post anything exactly blaming in this topic

Wrobel is lead combat and itemization designer. This isn't scapegoating him for the games problems. He is literally in charge of managing the systems that these problems arise in. And before you try telling me that Wrobel is just a victim of the higher ups, let me remind you that for the first year of the game (launch to 1.5) Wrobel was not in charge of combat. Nick Konkle was combat lead, and it's no coincidence that progressively balancing the game was handled much more competently over that year. Wrobel was brought in for 1.6.

Not in his job description to be a forum goer? You might as well tell a doctor it's not in their job description to go to continuing education seminars to keep up with new discoveries in their field. As a lead designer, he is expected to be competent at what he does. Keeping up to pace with developments is how to do that. And for someone who doesn't pvp on a regular basis, guess where the best source of user feedback is?

The fact that Wrobel didn't even have a forum account for about the first 2 years of the game is all that needs to be said about how he views the community. Contrast that to Brian who at least occasionally pops in and has something to say about the PvP systems.

I'm going to be generous here and assume your hostility and views are a product of ignorance, so let me explain how office life works. When you are supervisor in charge of a team, if your team consistently turns out buggy, poorly written code, it does more than just reflect on you. You take responsibility for it and can seriously lose your job because you clearly didn't do your job of supervising and making sure the team produced a quality product.

People don't hate Wrobel as a person, they hate that ZOS is still employing him for a role that he clearly is not suited for. I'm sure he might be a great guy as a person, by that's not what entitles you to a job.

Holoyoitsu is right . Sir Wrobel at work and Mr Eric Wrobel in off duty mode are two different things . Just fun friendly criticism about the work is really not meant to be confused with the person outside of work . I think Eric Wrobel is probably very good guy and has lots of friends . I don't really think he plots evil plans against my majika classes while he sleeps , I think he makes lots of boo boos . Big boo boos at work . Way too many sets get released broken . Art is just a fun non verbal way of communicating thoughts . OP definitely put some time on this one GG . I don't know how to do the gifs that move .

It would be nice if some of this comedic art moved Sir Wrobel to speak a lot more with Us about our concerns . When there is no dialogue , just frustrations we are left with nothing to do but draw pictures on machines wishing for balance game mechanics some day .
