So what? Create an argonian, buy the Imp. Edition in the crown store and delete the lizard.

Such hatred for Argonians! Personally, I would use an Altmer.

But, essentially correct. All that is necessary is to buy the Crowns and access the Crown Store. Any character can do that. Keep the character or delete it, player choice.

Well, Argonians are my least liked race in any TES game, Altmer are a close second though. The only Altmer I've played before ESO was in Battlespire. Never played an Argonian though and never will :)

Seriously though, with 8 default slots I don't see the OP's problem. Since the crown store is accessible even from the Wailing Prison, he doesn't even need to play the tutorial with the unwanted character.

OP must of been having a bad day and was looking for something to moan about only to realize he ended up looking stupid. There really isn't an issue here lol

You should be able to buy the Imperial Edition via the website where you log-in for your game account. It was there the most recent time that I looked. ZO sells other things, such as Crowns, through your game account, too, and there is a link to the Crown Store as well.

ESO came out in April 2014 as a subscription-based PC game. You're a young grasshopper who joined many moons later, when things became very different. :)

It's curious though, because you get 500 crowns for the box and the Adventurer's Pack costs 1900...

Yup. No reason to have Crowns if there was no Crown Store.

And, as Rosveen has subsequently added, how can you spend the 1000 Crowns they give you when they only give you 500 Crowns?

Sorry I did make a mistake with that, it says I registered the day it came out in April 2014 and registered the explorers pack as well the same day which all I can remember is I didnt pay actual money for it but I found my game box and it came free with that.

Yeah, there were no crowns and no crown store when ESO came out because it was subscription only. Pre-orders came with a code for the explorer pack that you had to enter on your account after logging in to your account on the website.

The first time the perk came out, it was a preorder bonus and it costed no extra. You either preordered it or the physical copy of the game you bought had the bonus. There were physical copies of the game with the code and even the code alone being sold online for several months after release.
Just so that everyone knows, my Altmer still can't have black hair. About a dozen of Altmer NPCs in the game have black hair. Just saying.

        Meet my characters:
        Command: Do the thing.

Zadarri, Khajiit Fist of Thalmor: The thing was done, as commanded.
Durza gra-Maghul, Orc blacksmith: The thing was done perfectly, in the most efficient way.
Tegwen, Bosmer troublemaker: You can't prove I didn't do the thing.
Sings-Many-Songs, Argonian fisher: Sure, I'll do the thing... Eventually. Maybe.
Aerindel, Altmer stormcaller: After extensive research, I've come to the conclusion that doing the thing would be a waste of resources.
Liliel, Dunmer pyromancer: Aerindel said I shouldn't do the thing. Something about "resources".
Gyda Snowcaller, Nord cryomancer: I will find a way to do it that won't waste resources and make Aerindel proud of me.
Beatrice Leoriane, Breton vampire: I persuaded someone else into doing the thing. You are welcome, dear.
Sahima, Redguard performer: Doing the thing sounds awfully unpleasant and really not my problem.
Ellaria Valerius, Imperial priestess: I'll pray to the Eight for the thing to be done, if it is Their will.

At least a year. I bought a copy from Amazon in February 2015 (just after the shift to Buy to Play was announced) and it came with the pre-order code in the box (which gave you the Any Race, Any Alliance upgrade and the Scuttler pet). Which surprised me because it was advertised as brand new, but I suppose they just meant it hadn't been opened or used at all.

The Imperial Edition (which is a separate thing) was originally available as a collectors edition with physical bonus items, or a digital special edition thought the website (and possibly other retailers?)

If you had the normal edition you could buy an upgrade to the Imperial Edition through the website, but that option disappeared (along with the palomino horse which also used to be sold that way) when the crown store was introduced and they added it as an in-game upgrade instead.

The only downside to buying it in-game is it will only apply to 1 server, whereas all the other versions apply to both EU and NA. And of course if you specifically want to make an Imperial first you'll need to make another character to buy the upgrade with.
