Tanking is the most flexible role, but nobody wants to tank :'(

We've seen it all. Magicka tanks. Health tanks. Stamina tanks. Sturdy tanks. Ultimate generation tanks. Ultimate reduction tanks. Sorc Tanks. Nightblade Sap Tanks. Templar House Tanks.

The thing is... tanks are so rare nowadays outside of trials!

Tanks are cool because they literally have TONS of different setups and CP allocations. There is no "best" tank setup, unlike damage dealers where you have to use this skill or this gear because it provides maximum damage output.

So sign up today folks, create a tank and you'll actually see how fun it is! :')

I tried, and i immediately lost desire at level 10. Im not one to slowly whittle an opponent down as i take hits, i need to feel like my attacks actually take large chunks of health away.

As i see it, a tank is only good if it has a damage dealer to support, and i already have a support character in the form of my healing templar who also has some mean damage output.

you have a point, But then again Tanking in this game is not really tanking. and you only need one of them for all but a couple bosses

I have a tank and I love playing her, but sadly, she can't really kill anything by herself. Where some DD could just breathe on a trash mob and kill it, it takes her about half an hour.

Tanks have the most difficult role in this game.

If a tank does not understand mechanics, the group often wipes.
However, most DDs have no idea about this, seeing tanks as stupid blockers.

As a healer, I have a complex task.
But I would not dare to play this game as a tank.

Thank you, good tanks. It is a pleasure to play with you guys!

I love and am completely dedicated to my tank on the pve side. Beaten every vet trial and hard mode except vmol as main tank. I love the role, the responsibility, and the sheer entertainment value of doing it.

As a tank, in many ways you have near total control over a fight. Your self sustain is very strong, and you can pull serious miracles out of your butt in numerous situations. I also trust very few other people to do it lol.

I have one Nightblade Tank, but i am only playing it with friends on TS.
Tanks are having an ungrateful time in ESO... if u r doing your job right everyone says "well u stand there just pressing RMB".
But if the group fails for any reason "tank is responsible!"

Tenesi Faryon of Telvanni - Dunmer Sorceress who deliberately sought sacrifice into Cold Harbor to rescue her beloved.
Hisa Ni Caemaire - Altmer Sorceress, member of the Order Draconis and Adept of the House of Dibella.
Broken Branch Toothmaul - goblin (for my goblin characters, I use either orsimer or bosmer templates) Templar, member of the Order Draconis and persistently unskilled pickpocket
Mol gro Durga - Orsimer Socerer/Battlemage who died the first time when the Nibenay Valley chapterhouse of the Order Draconis was destroyed, then went back to Cold Harbor to rescue his second/partner who was still captive. He overestimated his resistance to the hopelessness of Oblivion, about to give up, and looked up to see the golden glow of atherius surrounding a beautiful young woman who extended her hand to him and said "I can help you". He carried Fianna Kingsley out of Cold Harbor on his shoulder. He carried Alvard Stower under one arm. He also irritated the Prophet who had intended the portal for only Mol and Lyris.

Tanking is the easiest role in the game. Just level nord DK and you'll find that.

Also tanking gear is the cheapest. I really don't understand why not everyone level tank char. It's very hard to find group quickly as DPS, but you need seconds to find group via Dungeon Finder.

Leveling you ought to be using a dps build. There is no reason to have tank gear on till max level. Every class can level as dps then switching to a tank just a gear change and attribute Respec. Simple.

Yeh, just throw on 5 medium/light and 2 heavy. Just level up sword and board and any tanking related skills. Then respec at max level.

    I have a saptank and a Tava's Dk.

Saptank is a lot of fun and pulls pretty decent dps too.

Is The best role ever first normal SO clear me the off tank and healer burned down the boss after group near wipe it was me and the other tank which saved the day as the healer had to be resed and I had to tank all on my own and last phase lord warden I soloed because noobs kept dying when I res them so I burned all on my own yet these clears would not have happened without good tanks

Tanking is fun if you never have to deal with obnoxious DPS, which is why so few will respond to pick up groups, or even continue tanking. Of course only a few DPS are obnoxious, but it only takes a few for a person to say "To heck with this" and not group with strangers.

If a reasonably good tank is in a few guilds they have all the action they need just tanking for their guildies and friends.

That's hardly always true. In the new dungeons, the DPS does nearly everything. After getting the skin on my tank, I went on to do them on DPS and it was so much harder.

I've had some fun with my sorc tank build. Probably my favorite/best story is when I was tanking vBC with some pretty bad dps and healer. I wound up tanking 7 daedroths and the boss light attacks and SOMEHOW they still managed to die while the boss was at 30% health... So I buffed up my defenses (30k+ resists and ~50k shield) and revived the healer while getting beat on by the aforementioned horde of daedra.

One of them even bothered to thank me!

Or I could have been a dps and just melted the boss in a minute by myself... I can't decide which is more fun.

OP just because tanks are fun to BUILD doesn't mean they are fun to play.

In the end, all tanks just have a cheese tanking skill or 2 and hold block while taunting the boss. Tank GAMEPLAY is garbage.

It also don't help if the dds stand in red or get owned by a single skeleton npc while there are 20 of them and then yelling at both at the healer and tank.
Also atleast you do see some healers since healing and damage scale from the same stats while resistance and health are pretty much pointless outside of tanking.
