HACKED !!!

ignaciomaranrwb17_ESO
So long story short... hacked on Monday... 6 mails and 5 days later everything is the same. Tried to call to the support phone.. oh surprise a voice machine

Ok so on Monday i tried to log in to my account that I been playing since beta (also paying since it went live every single month). Password didn't work.. thought it was strange so i tried to changed the password. No problem password changed. I manage to enter and i find out i got 1.5 million stolen from my bank. Made a support request mail asking for help. Since it was late i assumed no one will reply so i went to bed. The next day same story, password changed and this time the wipe my whole account, gold, pots, items, everything it wasn't bound. I make a new request and this time they just blocked my account and canceled my subscription. Been sending mails since then with no reply.

Cant believe that they treat a loyal customer like this... so disappointed with eso right now, was so confident that my money was going to the corporation so they could give a quality service...

Since no one answers the phone or my mails i had to take it of my chest. Not saying im quiting the game since i still have a small hope that ESO will come thru and restore balance to the world they control giving my account back and restoring everything they stole from me (if they ban the ones that received my items the better).

Since i have no viruses at all on my computer or keylogger or anything... how did they do this? They hacked ESO data base? Its impossible they knew the secret question answer... even i had to think really hard to remember what i put on the game on December 2013.

Anyone else experienced something like this? Is ESO database compromised?

No, if your password changed again, then your email account is compromised. Did you change that password? If not, then that's probably the source of the hack.

They would have to hack your email, since if someone lovs into your account from a different i.p. you get a security check to your email.

If they have your email, eso is the least of your worries
Tl;dr really weigh the fun you have in game vs the business practices you are supporting.

Even if they have hacked my email, how can they reset the password without knowing the secret question answer?

You need to be more elaborate when contacting ESO. Provide your name, last name, your info on the account, the email, the password and of course your payment.

They should resolve this for you.

This is very concerning and I am so sorry it happened to you . Maybe add your ticket number to this thread and contact @ZOS_DaryaK to get it to someone quicker . Again so sorry to hear this . Every time I hear hacking I make my passwords even longer and more random just in case they try more people .

It's somewhere you've logged in in before. A friends house, a laptop somewhere, a friend coming over, logging in, and stealing your ***. That's the only way other than someone using your computer remotely

One thing I would do is change your personal email password, and if u live with friends don't leave your email up and running.

Just a suggestion, and a good place to start.

One of the biggest mistakes people make is using the same password for their game as their email.

It's highly unlikely that the ESO password database was hacked.
These are way more likely (in order of likelihood):
    - someone with physical access to your computer / system
    - malicious gaming software from a questionable source that you installed
    - weak password
    - someone with access to your email address and can access your account "reset password" emails
    - someone who hacked your email account

When in doubt, follow the "money" - who would be most likely to WANT your stuff, or be able to use it? It's not like a hacker in Nigeria who hacks your email or computer is going to hack your ESO account, of all things. Of all the things a keylogger or email account can provide to an identity thief, the only thing hacked was your ESO account? hmmm ...

Has to be another player. Have any of your guilds required you to sign up to an external guild webpage? (Two guilds I am in require this of their members....) If yes - Did you use the same password as your ESO account?

Is there a way to check and see who your character has mailed to recently? Since you weren't cleaned out the first time, it sounds more like someone that has access to your comp, not some random hacker.

Interesting point. Zeni should be able to see what has been sent recently from your in game email, and to whom it was sent.

Aside from the Great External Intrusion of 2011.

Fun trivia: On May 18 SOE shut down the password reset page on their site following the discovery of another exploit[39] that allowed users to reset other users' passwords, using the other user's email address and date of birth.

It depends on the email service and whether or not your networks have been compromised. Yahoo mail is not at all secure. I know several people that use yahoo, and I get phishing attempts from their hijacked email accounts at least twice a month. They change their info and its just a matter of time before it happens again. You look at the original path info in the message and its sent by proxy through a bunch of IPs from all over the world to try to hide their tracks.

To put more information about the case:

    - No one ever used my computer, neither i used my game in someone else computer.
    - I do use Yahoo mail, but even if this was hacked how did the hacker knew the secret question answer to reset the password? Brute force?
    - Email and ESO passwords were diferent.
    - After the first time I got hacked I changed every password i had and check computer for viruses and nothing (used Nod32 and Malawerebyts). I also activated dual verificatión on mails just in case. Still this didnt prevent it from happening again the next day.
    - I never registered to the guilds webpage since I dont trust no one lol
    - I never shared my account with no one... if i want to finish VMA i do it myself :expressionless:

All this taken into account you guys can understand why im so lost of what could have happend. The hacker was probably rly good :s

Why do people hack, cheat, steal, do harm on others? Hacking is negative and a crime. Also, in the religious/spiritual aspects, even if it takes man time to catch you, someone above is watching. Karma takes vengeance and your judgment day will come.
